In all honesty, Kay and Dani only thought briefly about where Catherine had gone. Actually they only thought about her once or twice. They were mostly caught up with each other.
After discovering their feelings for each other they couldn't keep meeting each other's eyes. Dani blushed every time but Kay was seemingly uneffected. Dani both loved and hated this about him. Although, she could never truely hate anything about Kay.
Dani always felt his body heat whenever he was behind her- in a way she never felt with anyone else. She always knew when he was behind her. She felt his breath on her ear and knew her deduction was correct. Her breath quickened and her heartbeat stuttered. She felt dizzy, almost sick. Like she was on one of those drop-rides at the fair. His fingers landed on her waist, soft, gentle; like a butterfly on a flower. Her skin seemed to ignite under his touch. "Kay..." She whispered. Not a question; a statement. A naration of the situation.
"Shhhh..." He whispered his fingers moving up her back until they rested on her shoulders. Her head turned to the side, her chin briefly touching the soft skin of the back of his hands. She didn't try to make eye contact, she just blushed and looked at the floor.
Kay kissed the exposed side of her neck, sending goosebumps up and down her skin. She exhaled sharply, her shoulders tensing. Kay smiled against the chilled skin of her neck. She bit her lip and her eyes closed quickly.
Kay grinned, a predator's smile. He chuckled darkly. He began to slip his finges under the bottom of her shirt- then there were footsteps. Loud ones. Seemingly right outside the door.
