I swung open the lab door and walked in. Cade looked up from his laptop and asked
"Are you ready?"
It was like the thousandth time today I've heard that saying. I rolled my eyes and sarcastically said,
"Yea!"
Now he was rolling his eyes. He closed his laptop and slide it into to his bag, throw the bag over his shoulder and stood up, grabbing his car keys.
We headed out the front door and so soon ask I know it I was standing in the middle of the police department staring at the sunset across the harbor. Boat bobbing from right to left on the almost clear, blue water leading out to the bay. The blues and the purples and blacks fading into the pinks, oranges, and reds. It was beautiful. I have never seen anything like it before.

Before I know it. Two really bright head light shined from behind. I turned my head to the left and saw Cade in his blue 2017 Chevrolet Corvette, with his hands thrown in the air. I gave him an awkward smile as I ran to the passenger side and pulled on the handle. I pulled the door open and jumped in. As am pulling on the seatbelt, Cade reminds me sarcastically.
"Do you know how dangerous it is to stand in the middle of a packing lot that's we're most people are..."
he paused and dramatically swung his head in my direction and continued.
"... found dead. I beat I thought I was going to say killed but i didn't."
I mumble dork under my breath but I guess it was a little to loud because instantly his mouth dropped opened and his hand was on his chest like he got offended or something.
"You weren't supposed to hear that."
I said with a smile on my face. Cade side eyed me and smile too. We laugh probably much laugh until I had the nerve to ask.
"Umm so like were exactly are we going?"
The car got so silent you can hear a ant fall. Then he answered,
"So I didn't want to tell you this right now but am going to have to sooner then later..."
the car got even more silent. I don't even know how that possible but it did. We pulled up in front of a two story house that was a brown color. Cade throw a pair of rudder gloves and told me to put them on. I open the door and stood outside on the curb and stared and the houses I pulled the gloves over my hands. I slowly closed to door and meet up with him as he walked towards the house. I didn't ask no questions. I just went with whatever Cade told me to do and not do. Honestly because I really just want to stay on his good side for one because I liked that side the most and for second because I have no idea what this dude is capable of.

Cade opens the front door then looks back at me. My left eyebrow went up as I watch him step over the door frame. I followed. The living room was close to empty with only a mini fridge, recliner, and flat screen tv hanging in the wall. The carpet was covered in food crumbs and stains. All different colors. Blue, orange, red, brown, and the list goes on and on. I walked right up to Cade's right ear and whisper
" the living room looks like a unicorn throw up on the carpet."
Cade didn't react. Rude. That kind of behavior can damage someone's self esteem. I sighed it off as we walked into the kitchen. There was what I thought was Kool aid spilled on the counter. I stopped myself from jumping to conclusions but then I hear Cade say to himself
" found you..."
He pulled out and q tip and swiped some on to it. He brought it so close to his nose it was par practically touching his nose.
"Just what I thought."
He dropped it into a ziplock and shoved it into his pocket before moving on to the cabinets. One by one Cade swung each one opened. He found nothing. He then opened the last one he opened another time. But this time removing a captain crunch cereal box. He flipped up the flaps and reached in pulling out a bloody knife. My jaw dropped to the ground. Cade once again pulled out a clean q tip and took a sample of that blood. He opened a new ziplock and dropped the q tip in it. He place everything back into the cabinet and closed it. He gave me once again another side eye and gestured to the door. Cade went around the island and started to walk down the hallway leading to the front door. I picked up my jaw for the floor and I again followed. He opened the door but the door made the loudest eye bleeding shriek I have ever heard. We both jumped at the sound immediately throwing our hands over our ears.

Cade shoveled my into the wall as he jogged back in the kitchen to check if anyone heard the door.
I heard another door from behind him open slowly and close. So out of my stupidity, I walked up to the kitchen opening. Looked to my right then my left and my right again. In the distance I could see something like a tall big shadowing shape on a closed closet door. I reached into the kitchen counter and grab a spoon. I slowly walked closer and closer to it with my spoon in front of me like that was the most dangerous weapon of all time.
Cade came up from behind and grab my left shoulder yanking it a little. I turned my head once more and looked him in the eye. He pointed to the door and I faced the closet door once again. Then Cade pulled my shoulder hard. I slide my hand under his and flicked the off. We both walked out the door without a single peep made and walked to the car. I pulled on the door handle and the door wouldn't open so I pulled harder. The door swung open and smacked me in my nose. Blood came pouring down my neck on to my shirt. I ripped off my glove and twisted one of the fingers and stuck it up my nose. I step in and sat down in the car seat and when Cade saw me with the glove up my nose he could have sworn he saw me picking it.
