Chapter 6: where the work begens

I could hear yelling from inside of the house. Arguing about the stupidest thing in my opinion, who's going to answer the door. It got quite and the door slowly opened. Jacks face poked out from behind. His eye wide once he saw me. "Maya, what a surprise we weren't expecting you to come out." I looked at the ground before explaining myself. "Well, umm funny story but umm I wasn't planning on coming over ether." I giggled a little. His eyes got a little wider. I continued, " Well I was walking and I saw your homes and I wanted to say hi I guess." In the house one of his dads yelled after him. "Who's at the door, son. Is it your girlfriend you've been talking about. We would love to meet her." Jack looked at me and rolled his eyes at his dad. " no just her sister." Now my eyes were as wide as his. I guess he did tell them. I mean I wouldn't.

His dad called back to jack, " oh okay?" He nods his head at me. I smiled at him. Out of nowhere he asked me if I wanted to come inside. It was the polite thing to do I guess especially since we have been standing i his door way for a long time. I reached into my pocket and pulled out my phone. I pressed the home button on the bottom of the screen and the screen lit up. 5:45, I stuck out my bottom lip a little and reply to jacks question. "I am so sorry but I can't. I have somewhere I have to be at sunset." He looked from my eyes to the ground. "Oh" I looked at the ground with him " I better be taking off." I said stepping out of his door way.

I started my walk to the police department. I was a little curious on what we were going to do. It had finally processed in my mind, I was most likely going to kill a person. And it all starts tonight. I had mixed emotions about the whole thing, but I didn't want to back down. I walked up the stairs to the police department. I did the same walk though as I have done before, I got my very own visitors pass and went on the elevator and rode it to the fourth floor. It felt as if I have done it a million times before, yet it was my third time at the department. The walk from the elevator to the lab felt heavy. I walked in with my head held high. Now I was ready.
