(Levi's POV)
Mr. Braus and I both watched the last student leave the classroom and then he finally spoke.
"Mr. Ackerman, I'm only going to give you ten extra minutes to complete this exam."
"What's the point, I'm gonna fail it anyway."
"I have seen some of your work, and you have a talent for writing. This is your last exam, at least try to put in the effort.
"Sir, I'm already graduating, with low marks... Why should I care about completing a silly exam when I don't even plan on attending university or college?"
"Because, you are a smart young man and you don't apply yourself enough. It really sucks seeing your students with potential throw it away. Especially when you know that you could've done something to help them, but instead you chose to let them fail." He adjusted his glasses, "But I am not going to let that happen. As long as I see that you tried, you will pass. Now, please Mr. Ackerman, let me see some effort. I'm trying to get home so I can pack for my vacation."
"Tch." I picked up the pencil and completed the last question to the best of my ability.
"At least when you're finished, you can look forward to your future."
Hah, what future... I have a 2 year old son with no mother, I'm single, I have no parents, I'm struggling to keep the both of us stable, who knows if I'll even be able to keep my son. "Whatever." I placed the exam package onto his desk and walked towards the door of the classroom.
"I hope you did listen to what I had to say and I really hope things turn out well for you in the future. To say the least, I'm quite happy that you always showed up for class."
"What about it Mr. Braus?" I raised an eyebrow.
"It shows me that you have potential to be great, stop limiting yourself. I don't know what it is you think that's holding you down but understand this," He opened the door causing a loud creek, "I expect that regardless of your marks, you do what you can to be just as successful as a doctor."
Bullshit... "Yeah. Whatever." I shrugged.
"Listen Levi, it's really up to you. I do understand things may not be easy for you but you have to at least put in the effort."
"Are you done lecturing me? I don't need a thousand different adults telling me what to do, especially if they don't know me. You all think you know me but you don't. No one does." My voice rose in frustration, but I tried to remain calm. With that, I turned around to see two girls staring in my direction. There was the teacher's daughter, Sasha, I think, and then the girl that bumped into me one day. My eyes locked onto her beautiful (e/c) orbs but soon that contact was gone.
She was really pretty and sweet, but we never really spoke. I think it was because of that one day. To be honest, I really didn't mean to come off as an asshole but I was having a really bad day. Eren kept me up all night, it was raining, my car wouldn't start (and I live about 30 minutes away from this stupid school), Hanji couldn't watch Eren so I had to ask many people I knew until finally I gave in and took him to a daycare centre - which I hate - I ended up taking the bus, arriving to school an hour late, I got lectured by my first period teacher, had students make fun of me and I forgot my lunch money at home. So I decided to walk around and that's when she bumped into me. I was going to help her up until those idiots started talking shit and saying how I was a jerk, and how I should watch out next time. I really couldn't be bothered so I left. I decided to leave school early that day, despite having a test last period. I couldn't get in trouble either because I'm 18 and legally allowed to take care of myself.
