Reminisce ( Book One of the Lunar series )

Chapter Nine

I was running, and almost made it out the front door when Chris stopped me.

" What the hell is going on, and why are you covered in blood?" Her brown eyes were wide as she took in my appearance.

" Can't explain right now." I said brushing past her. She caught my wrist.

I stopped, and glarred at her. She breathed in deeply, and gasped in horror.

" You smell like Paul. Oh my Goddess! You killed Paul. After everything he's done for us? He save our lives. He gave us a home, he save-"

" He betrayed us. He's been betraying us scince the very begining. I'l explain everything later, right now go clean up the mess in my room, and send the guys down to help me."

" Did he really deserve to die!" She was yelling now.

" Stand down Christina." I commanded, putting all the power I had in my voice. No one ever called Chris by her full name.

She flinched.

Aaron came running into the lobby. " She's gone, she- she's missing. She took her." He gasped. There was a bruise on the side of his head.

" What happened?" Justin asked.

" Luna. She came into the room, knocked me out. Carla was with me and Julie. Julie's okay, but Carla's gone."

Justin swore and ran out of the building.

" Aaron make sure he doesn't get too far." I said but he was already running toward the door.

The rest of the pack was here. Sarah, Mark, Damen, ans Julie each had the same expressions on their faces. Pure and utter shock.

" Come with me." I said, not wanting to leave anyone behind.

We took off into the night. I sniffed the air despratley as I ran, in hopes of anyone's scent. Luna, Carla or even Brendon. It didn't help that it was begining to rain.

" This way!" Justin yelled, and took off. East, toward Central Park.

My hair clung to my face, and the rain was pouring steadily now. Lighting flashed across the sky, and thunder rumbled. Once I saw the trees I shifted, not caring who saw at this point. Not when my pack was in danger.

" Lexa!" Someone called, I shifted back.

Oh my god.

It was the idiot from the club.

" Now is not the time Brent." I warned.

" I know, and it's Kent. I saw this girl she was draggin someone with her. I recognized her from your pack. I thought I'd help.

" Where!" I yelled.

He pointed toward a cluster of trees, and we took off.

A scream peirced the air, and I picked up the pace.

I saw her.

Luna had her arm slung around Carla's throat, who was thrashing violently clawing at her arm.

" Let. Go." She managed to choke out. Luna just laughed.

Behind her growls echoed through the trees, in harmony to the thunder.

Lightning flashed revealing the outlined shape of several wolves, inching closer to Luna.

" Luna! Rouges!" Sarah called out.

" Yes, Sarah. They're rouges. They are mine." She growled and tossed Carla aside like a rag doll. Justin ran to her.

" Attack." She hissed.

They charged toward us, just in time for us to strike back.

The scent of death filled my nose as I collided with the rouge, he was new and sloppy so I was finished with him in a matter of seconds.

Don't kill yet, just knock them out and move on! I ordered.

I turned to Julie she was circling with another wolf, with white fur. She snarled at him, and he lept.

 NO!

I raced toward them, trying to find a spot in, when I heard the unmitakable sound of a neck being snapped. They both stoped moving, the rouge on top of Julie.

 She kicked the wolf off of her and stood up.

Wow, I just killed my first rouge. She said in shock.

Good job, just keep on doing that. I praised

 I was knocked flat on my back, Luna's blonde wolf on top of me, snaping her teeth at my neck. 

I clawed at her, leaving deep gashes in her fur, but she didn't even flinch. The look in her crazed eyes caused my blood to run cold. She wanted me dead even if it meant her dying along with me.

Suddenly she was ripped from me and flung into a near by tree, the slim trunk snappipng in half from her weight.

He advanced on her, the copper fur on his back standing on end. She circled him, never prying her eyes from his ocean ones.

He snarled at her, dominace ringing loud and clear in his stance.

This was my chance to strike, her attention was fully focused on Brendon.

I pounced, my timing perfect. My jaws locked around the back of her neck, crunching down into the bone. Her blood filled my mouth a repulsive blend of evil, and salt.

She colapsed onto the ground, I stared in shock at what I'd done. Feeling guilty dispite everything. She was like a mother I never had. And I killed her.

I looked around me and time seemed to move in slow motion. Wolves snarling, the earth wet with blood and rain. And then flames entered my vision. Anlong with thee unmistakeable red hair of a fire fey, A large grey wolf beside her protecting her from the other rouges. It was John. And he brought some friends. An older woman with white hair made several rouges fly backward with a flash of blue light. There was two wolves I didn't recognize fighting alongside Kent.

By the looks of it this fight wasn't anywhere near over. And when it was, there was one hell of a mess to clean up.

The battled raged on, howls filling the air with a chourus of snarls and thunder. Lighting would strike every so often, illuminating the park, and showinig us what really lay behind the darkness. I killed rouge after rouge for hours, with Brendon and Julie right beside me.

 Until all was silent except the sound of the rain pattering against the grass. 

I looked around me, senses on high alert waiting for yet another attack. None came. Someone nudged my shoulder lightly and I  snapped at him.

I spun around  right into the ocean blue eyes of Brendon.

It's over Lexa. He wispered into my mind.

 For now.  John said.

I looked at my pack, fur matted down from blood and gore. Carla sobbing against Justin's chest. And Mark howling over Sarah's lifeless body.
