"Yeah, I do actually." I said kind of ashamed.

I stared down at my notebook and tried to remember how Mr. White explained this, but nothing came to mind. All I could remember was walking into class and then spacing out.

I scooted over so Luke could sit down next to me. He sat down and looked at my notebook. He looked at the problem for a minute, and then took my pencil and started to write something down.

He put down the pencil and then turned to me. He just kind of stared at me for a minute. I almost got lost in his amazing blue eyes, but before I could he grabbed his stuff and started walking out the door.

I looked at my notebook to see that he had done all the work for me.

Quickly packing up my stuff, I ran out the door to find him. As I walked down the street, I saw the familiar blonde hair. He was too far for me to catch up by running, so I put my skateboard down and started to go his direction.

"Hey!" I yelled right behind him.

Hey just ignored me and kept walking.

"Hey! Luke!" I was now right next to him on my board, trying to talk to him without falling.

He looked at me and stopped.

"What?" He spat.

"Why'd you leave? And why did you do my homework for me? I'm not stupid, I could have figured it out if you would have explained it to me." I got off my skateboard and started to walk closer to him.

"What, I'm now allowed to leave? And I know you're not stupid, I just figured that I would get it over with instead of explaining it to you because when I explain things, I make it way more complicated then it needs to be." He put his hands in his pockets and started to walk again.

I walked next to him, trying not to lose him.

"Well, thanks." I turned around and started to walk the opposite way towards home.

"Hey, where are you going?" Luke said running to get by my side.

"Home?" It came out as more of a question than statement.

"Oh okay. Can I walk you home? It'll make me feel better knowing that you got home safely."

"Wait a minute. So when I ask where you're going, you make a big deal out of it. But when you ask where I'm going, I'm just supposed to tell you right away and think that it's no big deal?" I roughly laughed.

"I'll take that as a no?" He questioned.

"Sorry. Yes, you can walk me home if you'd like." I said apologetically.

"So, we've never really talked before." He said.

'We have a captain obvious over here' I thought to myself.

"But I've seen you around school, and you're in all of my classes. So I guess that's kind of a bad thing." He mumbled, looking down to his shoes.

I've always had this impression on Luke that he was just one of those people who kept to themselves. Like he didn't want any trouble, just wanted to get through high school like the rest of us and be done with it.

"Let me introduce myself. I'm Luke Hemmings."

"Hello, Luke Hemmings. I'm Mackenzie Lockwood."

"I see we have some things in common." He smirked. Then he unzipped his jumper to show an All Time Low shirt similar to mine.

"I never thought you would like a band like them."

"What's that supposed to mean? Am I not punk rock enough for you?" He said flaunting himself around, making me laugh.

"No, well sort of, I guess. To me you just seemed like how I am. We both care about our grades and try not to be noticed as much. The only reason I thought of you like that, was mainly because that's how you came off." I pulled out my phone to check the time.

It's 7:00 now. Chester should be home in about an hour or so.

"Well I'm sorry I don't live up to your standards." Luke said becoming all sassy.

"No, don't think of it that way. The way you are is perfectly fine. I was just saying that I thought you were like every other smart person I know. But I was wrong. And I'm happy I was because I like you. You're not boring." By the time I finished my sentence, we turned down my street.

My house is at the end, so we still have a couple of minutes before we reach it.

"So where do you live? Not to sound all stalkerish and all. I'm just curious."

"Actually, not to far from here. Just down that way." He pointed forward to direct where he lives.

"Well this is it. Thanks for walking me home." He walked me up to the door and nodded his head.

"No problem. See you soon, Mackenzie." He then walked down my porch steps, and towards his house.

I watched him as he turned the corner before walking inside. I threw my stuff by the door and ran upstairs.

I went into my room and picked out my pjs, which were just some shorts, a sports bra, and a tank top. I then grabbed some underwear and headed for the bathroom. Quickly changing, I then went back into my room.

I heard the door slam and looked at my phone. It read 8:03 so I figured that it was Chester.

I ran downstairs, almost falling, and went into the kitchen. I saw a figure in the darkness and turned on the light.

"Chester?" The figured turned around.

I was right, it was my brother. But he wasn't himself, I could tell.

"Hey Mackenzie" He slurred his words.

As I came closer to him, I could smell the alcohol on his breath.

"Chester, you're drunk."

"What? Psh no! Why would I be dru- " he walked towards me, falling forward.

I caught him before he fell, but it took a little muscle because he is a lot heavier than me.

"Were you with Jake again? He's no good, I've told you this so many times!" I asked harshly.

"It wasn't Jake, it was some of his friends or whatever. I don't know. But there were a lot of them and they kept handing me drinks, so I said 'what the fuck,' and took them." He tried to escape my grip but I wouldn't let him.

"Okay, well you're a dumbass for staying anyway. Let's get you to bed." I guided him over to the staircase and had to help him walk up.

Once we got to the top, he automatically fell over. I was just happy he went forward and not back. I'm not in the mood for the hospital tonight. I carefully picked him up and helped him to his room.

"Come on you big lug. Help me a little big here!" He kept dragging his feet and he was almost passed out.

After about 6 minutes of attempting to drag him from the staircase to his room, I finally got him there. I helped him into bed, not even making him change his clothes and walked towards the door.

Before I walked out, I made sure he was okay, turned off the lights and closed the door.

I walked into my room and shut the door. "Well that was a struggle." I said to myself, plopping on my bed. I grabbed my phone and plugged it in next to me.

I was so tired from everything tonight. I reached over and turned the light off next to me, pulling the covers over me afterwards. I closed my eyes and could only think about sleep.
