I woke up feeling more refreshed than usual. I rolled on my back and sat up, rubbing my eyes a little. I pulled the covers off of myself and lazily got out of bed.
I've never been a morning person, so this was a real struggle for me.
I reached over to my phone, checking the time to see it was 11:30. Well maybe that's why I feel so good. I actually had a good amount of sleep.
I stumbled into my bathroom and shut the door. I did my business, then brushed my teeth because my breath was just horrible.
I turned on my shower, letting it heat up a little. I turned on my music, so I could amuse myself by attempting to sound like other artists. After stripping down, I got in and began to clean up.
•15 song singing, shampoo in my eye, screaming bloody murder minutes later..... •
After getting the shampoo out of my eyes, I got out of the shower and wrapped a towel tightly around my body. I opened the bathroom door to let the steam out, and walked over to my dresser and picked out my clothes; A Pikachu cropped top and some high waisted black shorts.
"Okay, now what?" I asked myself. It's 11:58 now and I have to be at work by 2.
Then, my stomach grumbled.
"Food's a good idea." I walked downstairs into the kitchen.
I walked over to the fridge and opened it. All that we had in there was some eggs, milk, water, and an apple. Not much to cook with.
I decided to just go to the diner, thinking that I could talk to Margie for a while.
I ran upstairs to grab my stuff, and then came back down. I made sure I had everything for work as well because I decided not to come back.
I picked up my skateboard over by the door, locked the house, and walked out. It's a good thing I brought headphones with me. I forgot them last week and let me tell you, it was horrible
I rode down my street while blasting some All Time Low in my ears, most likely causing damage, but I really don't care. I turned down the street, before I finally got to the diner. I paused my music and shoved my phone in my pocket. Picking up my board, I walked into the diner taking a seat at the counter instead of a booth. I'm practically family here, so I put my board by my seat and walked behind the counter and made myself an iced coffee.
Just as I was putting the straw in the lid, Margie walked through the door leading to the kitchen. She smiled at me and came to give me a hug.
"Hey baby girl, what's new?" She gave me a tight squeeze before letting go.
"Nothing really, just thought I'd stop by to get something to eat. Do you need any help?" I walked over to my chair and sat down taking sips of my drink.
"Nope, it's pretty slow right now. So what would you like?" She smiled and handed me a menu, as if I actually needed it. I've been going to this place so long, I've memorized the damn thing.
"I know it's pretty much lunch time, but could you be the greatest person in the whole wide world and make me your amazing pancakes?" I was batting my eyelashes and making the best puppy dog face I could.
"Okay kiddo, but just because you're like the daughter I've always wanted."
"Yay! Thank you Margie! I love you!" I ran behind and gave her a big hug.
She walked back into the kitchen, so I went to my seat and sat down to finish my coffee. I looked around the cafe to see that today really was slow. It was only me and some other kid sitting all the way in the back.
