harry walked outside, seeing his mom and sister sitting on the front porch. harry has been wondering why victoria never came over or called him, usually they hang out everyday. it was six o clock at night and he was a bit sad that he hasn't seen her yet.

"hi, harry. how are you?" his mother asked, smiling at him. gemma patted her lap, motioning for him to sit down. he jumped up and sat on her lap, wrapping her arms around him.

"i'm good, can i go to victoria's? we haven't spoken all day and i'm a bit worried." he asked. gemma laughed from behind him, making him turn around to give her a questioning look. "what?"

"nothing. i just think that it's adorable that you care that much about your girlfriend." gemma teased, knowing that harry hates when people call victoria his girlfriend. to them, it was just them being best friends. to others, it was the most adorable relationships ever.

"mom," harry started, dragging the word for dramatic effect. "tell gemma to stop calling victoria my girlfriend!" he glared at his sister while his mom laughed at him also.

"harry, she's just teasing. we understand that you two are just best friends. it's just really cute to watch you two." she said. "and yes, you can go to victoria's. i'll come to pick you up around eight, have fun baby." she bent over to give his head a quick kiss. he smiled widely and jumped off of gemma's lap, running off the porch and making his way to victoria's house. he knocked on the door and waited for either victoria or her mom to open it.

"oh, hi harry." victoria's mom said, faking a smile at the little boy. victoria heard the door open and peaked from the top of the stairs, surprised to see harry. she wasn't in the mood for seeing anyone today, but she had a good reason and her mother understood.

"hi! is victoria home?" harry asked, looking behind her mother and quickly catching a glimpse of victoria running back to her room.

"um.. she isn't in the best mood right now, honey. but i think you should go to her, help her get her mind off of things. she's in her room." he nodded and ran up the stairs, opening victoria's door. she jumped and gasped, not expecting him to actually come. she was sure that her mom would tell him that she couldn't hang out today. all she wanted was to be alone.

"what are you doing here?" victoria spat. harry was startled, she has never talked to him so.. rudely.

"i was worried, we haven't talked all day.. i'm sorry." harry said quietly. victoria instantly felt bad. she sighed and shook her head.

"sorry, harry. i didn't mean to say it like that. today hasn't been the best." she frowned at the ground.

"why?" harry asked. 'he is your best friend, why shouldn't you tell him?' a voice in her head reminded her.

"it has been a year since daddy left." she told him. harry thought about it, and remembered that today was may 2nd, the day that her dad left.

"oh my gosh, i'm sorry, victoria." harry said, holding his arms out for a hug. she ran into his arms, wrapping her own around his body.

"why couldn't he just stay and let them work it all out?" victoria asked, already knowing that harry didn't have an answer. harry knew why he left though. victoria told him all about it. her mom cheated on her dad, but she felt bad and was hoping they could work through it. her dad didn't like that idea though, and thought it would be better to just leave.

"i don't know, but things happen for a reason. that's what my mom always tells me. like us! we met for a reason. remember that day?" he smiled, victoria also smiling through her tears.
