age: 11
harry woke up, trudging out of his bed and walking into his bathroom to get ready. harry has been miserable the past year, seeing victoria everyday at school so lonely. she has no other friends. not because no one likes her, but because she has isolated herself from the rest of the world. harry took his morning shower, put on his clothes, and brushed his teeth and hair.
"good morning, baby." anne greeted him, giving him a small smile to see if he gets anything in return. she sighed when all he did was wave. harry sat at the table, eating only small bites of his food. gemma came downstairs, standing above harry and waiting for him to notice her. harry looked up at his older sister, wondering why she was just staring.
"hey, harry. ready for school?" gemma asked, fixing her hair. harry nodded, pushing in his chair and giving his mom's cheek a quick kiss. gemma gave her mother a half smile, as if she was silently telling her that it's not her fault.
victoria was sitting at her vanity, almost done with her makeup. she used to not wear makeup, but she now feels like she needs it. making the neatest line she could manage with her liquid eyeliner, she flicked it, making it into a wing. victoria took her blackest pencil liner and dragged it across her water line and the corner of her eye. taking her smudging tool, she smudged it out and cleaned up the edges. a few coats of mascara later, she was done. victoria walked downstairs, skipping breakfast. victoria arrived at the bus stop, seeing harry and gemma but quickly looking away. harry noticed victoria, frowning at the makeup surrounding her eyes. he never was a fan of heavy makeup on people. to him, natural beauty was the best beauty. the bus pulled up, all the kids climbing up the small set of stairs and onto the big yellow bus.
victoria sat in her usual seat, near the emergency exit. harry sat in the seat next to her's with gemma. occasionally he would look over and just watch her, not caring if he is spotted or not by anyone. victoria had her ear buds on, playing her music as loud as she could to block off the annoying girls and boys surrounding her on this hot death trap they call a bus.
"victoria.. victoria.. victoria!" she heard her name getting called. that's new. victoria took her ear buds out, looking around to see who it was.
"you dropped your bag." gemma told her, pointing towards the black bag on the dirty floor. victoria picked it back up, giving her a nod as a thank you. gemma turned towards harry with a frown.
"i miss her voice. i'm starting to forget how it sounds." she told him, sorrow in her eyes. harry nodded, looking over at his old friend. harry lays in his bed every night and thinks to himself;
'how could someone change so drastically?'
the bus stopped in front of the large, brick school. to most kids, that's what it is. school. to victoria, it was hell on earth. victoria walked to her locker, ear buds still in her ears. sadly, her locker was by harry's. everyday he tries to talk to her, but gets nothing in response. victoria opened her locker and took out her binder. she put her phone in her locker after turning it off. when she stood up, she was face to face with harry.
"can we please, please talk?" harry asked. victoria looked down at the ground and walked to class, trying not to knock into anyone. harry chased after her, but victoria took off running to her english class. harry sighed, closing his eyes and shaking his head. 'she will get over this, it's just a phase.' he reminded him self. 'she can't be mad forever.' harry walked to his class, which was math.
victoria sat in her seat in the way back of the class. there was always someone trying to talk to her, only because she is the only student in the class that has never spoken a word at all this year. the same boy that always tries to start a conversation sits next to her.
