chapter one: the watcher in the woods | edited

the sound of the metal detector blaring caused isabella to jump and turn her attention towards them. her eyes fluttered around, a small smirk curling onto her lips as she saw the familiar dark set of hair talking with the security. she looked down towards her best friend, nudging her in the arm, before pointing towards the resident north sider that was going to start roaming their halls. toni, the small petite dark skinned girl and isabella's beat friend, turned on her heels, moving her eyes through the crowd of students until they landed on the person isabella was pointing at.

taking her camera out of her bag, toni took a few steps forward, only stopping once she realized that the tall brunette wasn't following. turning back around, toni crossed her arms raising a brow at her best friend.

"are you coming?"

isabella looked over toni's shoulder, letting her blue-gray eyes roam the son of their leader. she pursed her lips, flickering her eyes back to the small girl.

"i don't know toni." she glanced back at jughead before starting again. "he doesn't seem to be the serpent type."

"we're just gonna give him a tour, isa." toni chucked, bringing her hand up to pat her friend on the arm. "plus you know fp will want you too."

isabella narrowed her eyes at toni. she couldn't believe she just used fp as an excuse. ever since her parents died, he was the closest thing she had to a parental figure. he took care of her, fed her, made sure she was okay and alive. she would do anything to make that up to him and if that means showing his son around then she'll do it.

letting out a sigh, isabella ran a hand through her hair. "fine, but you're doing most of the talking."

the topaz girl grinned widely, giving isabella a mock salute that made her giggle. toni quickly turned back around, making her way back towards the new kid, glancing over her shoulder ever so often to make sure isabella was behind her.

"foresythe pendleton jones the three," toni snapped a picture of the boy as soon as they were in his eyes vision. the raven haired boy glanced up, grabbing his beany from the grey box and pulling it onto his head.

"uh it's jughead, actually." he corrected as he grabbed the rest of his belongings.

"i'm toni topaz and you should know isabella deangelus." toni introduced, motioning over toward isabella once she said her name. the brunette forced a smile on her smile, wiggling her finger in greeting. sure she knew jughead, but not personally. their paths would cross a few times when she would visit fp but there were always so quick that she never has gotten the chance to introduce herself and isabella had a feeling that jughead probably didn't want her to. she saw as his eyes glanced over to her, a small sliver of recognition glossing over them. "we were supposed to give you the full animatronic tour, but some robots went insane and started killing the guests, so we'll just wing it."
