The Assignment

*Third Person*

The class was just about to end and to everyone's surprise, Harry and Draco didn't cause any drama or complain until the final bell rang.

"Okay everyone before you leave I must inform you of the group assessment task" Snape started but was quickly cut off by a collective groan from the class.

"That's quite enough, do you really think that I want to mark all of your pathetic answers" the class quickly silenced and let Snape continue

"Thank you, the assessment will be done in pairs based off of who you were working within today's class, you have one week to complete a general knowledge presentation on all of the plants and potions we have worked on so far...." Snape continued but the rest of his words were blurred to Harry who was only focusing on the fact that he had to work with Draco for the next week.

"This task will have to be completed outside of class so I assume you will all be sending letters to each other to arrange meeting times to complete the project, if not please figure something out because I will not be tolerating that as an excuse if you have nothing prepared on the day. Class dismissed." Snape finally finished all he had to say and watched as each student began to stroll out of the classroom.

Harry began to pack his books up before leaving the classroom when he heard his name being called by a familiar voice.

"Potter, wait."

with an internal groan, Harry turned around to see an emotionless Draco.

"What do you want Malfoy?" Harry questioned not really interested in the answer

"We are partners in this stupid project-" Draco started

"d u h" Harry said sarcastically cutting Draco off.

"if you would let me finish Potter, gosh... as I was saying we are partners and I don't expect to fail this project because of you so can I like have your timetable or something," Draco said intensely, crossing his arms across his chest in the process.

"you know.. there are more romantic ways to stalk me Malfoy" Harry smirked

"Wha- I- uh- um" Harrys comment caught Draco off guard and now he was trying to recover

"Chill Malfoy. I'm Kidding" Harry rolled his eyes and proceeded to give Draco a copy of his timetable before exiting the classroom leaving a stunned Draco behind. 

*Gryffindor Common Room*

As Harry entered the Gryffindor common room he saw Hermione and Ron seated on the couches by the fireplace intensely studying different subjects.

"okay Ron lets try some maths okay-?-" Hermione questioned before being interrupted by Ron

"Two plus two is four, minus one that's three, quick maths" Ron yelled, earning an eye roll from whoever happened to be in the common room. 

"Ronald do you want my assistance or not?" Hermione questioned crossing her arms over her chest.

"I want your ass-" Ron started before looking at Hermione's face and changing his mind "istance" Ron finished by smiling innocently hoping that Hermione would still help.

Harry started to laugh at the idiots he called his friends and he slowly walked over and sat down next to them trying not to disturbed their study session.

Some time had passed and Ron had been finding the new maths chapter highly difficult which both annoyed and confused Hermione as of course, she found it incredibly easy.

"Okay Ronald all you need to do is concentrate and then it will all make sense, it's not even that hard. Let's move onto question two and make a fresh start." Hermione huffed as she was beginning to get annoyed.

 Ron moaned as Hermione began to read the question from the textbook

'"The equation 24x(squared)+25x−47 divided by ax−2, equals −8x−3, 53 divided by ax−2 is true for all values of x≠2 divided by a, where a is a constant."' upon hearing the equation Ron slammed his head against the table and cried.

"Don't cry Ron this is so easy, okay all you have to do is multiply each side by ax−2 so that you can get rid of the fraction, that will give you 24x2+25x−47=(−8x−3)(ax−2)−53. Then we multiply (−8x−3) and (ax−2) using FOIL, which we learned last year. Once we do that we will get.... 24x2+25x−47=−8ax2−3ax+16x+6−53. Then all you do is..." Hermione started to draw on Ron's paper completing the equation as he sat the dumbfounded.

"Finally since the coefficients of the x2-term have to be equal on both sides of the equation, −8a=24, or a=−3. There see I told you it was easy!" Hermione beamed as she successfully taught someone how to do something. 

Ron looked towards Harry with pleading eyes, his ginger hair was messy and it looked like he hadn't slept in weeks.

"Don't look to me mate I don't understand this shit either" 

Hermione piped up "Perhaps.."

but before she could continue Harry interrupted "Oh is that the time, so sorry I have a test tomorrow must go, how unfortunate, good luck you guys" with that Harry ran up to his room and began to study for his test.

Suddenly an Eagle Owl flew into Harry's room carrying a white envelope with a green wax snake seal. The owl dropped the letter into Harry's lap and perched itself on Harry's bedframe awaiting a reply to the letter. 

Unknown letter:

Uh hey its Draco Malfoy

Harry quickly scribbled a reply and sent the letter to Draco, laughing at all the effort Draco had put into his letter to send five words. 

Harry:

How many other Draco's would I know?

The two boys continued to write letters to each other throughout the night. 

Malfoy:

I was just being specific you dick, look all I want to know is when and where should we meet to do this assignment?

Harry:

I'm not too sure, where do you usually study?

Malfoy:

I would suggest the library but I don't want anybody to know that I am with you

Harry:

wow you flatter me with your kindness

Malfoy:

Whatever. I know this spot in Hogsmeade that should be secluded enough. Meet me tomorrow at the three broomsticks inn

Harry:

okay fine, I will see you then

and with that Harry gave the Eagle owl the final letter and went to sleep feeling highly unprepared for his test all thanks to Malfoy.
