I woke up with a start, I felt a burning sensation on my hand. I yanked away from the sunlight which came from the window; where I fell asleep last night.

I looked at my hand, it had a nasty scar.

I closed my eyes trying to absorb the pain and very soon the scar and the pain was gone. I breathed out in relief.

Sunburns for vampires are very painful not like for humans, who just put sunscreen to help themselves to beat the sun.

Us vampires have to wear pendants, take umbrellas and more trouble along with themselves.

Being a vampire is hard, that’s why we’re finding the blue stone so we can rest in peace.

I heard the clock chime and work out that its six already. Our school starts at eight, I have two hours’ left to ready, we usually have an early start because we try to avoid the sun’s rays by arriving at school early when the sun is coming.

I dragged the heavy curtains and blocked out the sun. As expected my room turned dark the way I like it I made my way out of my room with my clothes and towels and headed for the bathroom.

I could hear the clattering of utensils I looked below from upstairs and saw the boys down having breakfast.

“Hurry up V!” Jake called from down below I nodded and hurry along.

After I got washed up and all ready. I went down stairs to the dining table where they were seated having breakfast.

“Morning.” I greeted as I sat down and helped myself to some bread and tea.

I looked around and noticed that Jay’s eyes were golden, he forgot to do something.

“Jay, did you put your lenses on?” I questioned Jay as he tried to drink his tea.

He rolled his eyes around and shook his head in a ‘no’ after realizing he didn’t put his lenses just then Jimmy dashed down the stairs in fret.

“J-Jay your lenses.” Jimmy panted crouching down to catch his breath.

“What happen to them?” Jay dropped his knife as he was spreading butter onto his second slice.

He stood up and rushed to Jimmy. Jimmy mumbled something and pointed upstairs and ran before looking at us we took the lead and ran followed them upstairs.

They were standing outside the bathroom.

Did I do something wrong there?

As far as I can remember I didn’t touch anyone’s lenses except for mine.

“What’s wrong?” I inquired craning my neck to see.

“This is sick.” Matt muttered looking at the mess made.

There was a dead crow in the bath tub which shockingly was overflowing with water coloured red by the blood of the bird and Jay’s collection of lenses was scattered in the water. On the mirror, it was written with blood ‘I’ll get you!’.

“Mark!” Neil yelled and in a minute Mark appeared behind us.

His cold presence wrapped us from behind like a cold blanket.

“Everyone out!” He commanded and we all raced out of the place, less than you say ‘Out’.

“What was that?” Kayne asked as we ran down the stairs. I passed Jay my spare lenses and packed my bag swiftly.

“I don’t know what’s happening?” Jay slipped the contact lenses into his eyes and his eyes turned into colour green.

“How does it look?” he asked blinking his eyes wide open, I gave a thumb up headed for the exit door.
