chapter 8 - impossible

Misa's pov

Sayu looked away . She Couldn't look me in the eye and I knew in that instant that something had happened .
"Sayu ?."
"Yes, misa ."
"Are you okay ? You looked very flushed .
"Yeah I'm fine , although it has got hot all of a sudden ."
"Hot ?"
"Yeah I'm boiling ."
"Do you feel okay ."
"Actually no . I kind of feel sick . I should probably go home and lie down for a bit ."
"Yeah I've got to go anyway , light will be home soon ."
"Okay , bye , misa."
"Bye,sayu. Hope you feel better soon !"
"Bye."
And then she disappeared out of sight . Sayu , not feeling well ?! As if , she seemed fine earlier . I walked out of the café , deep in thought . I was so deep in thought , I was oblivious to a shadow looming over me . I looked up to see Rem . A beam broke out on my face and I had to restrain myself from shouting Rem . Rem started into my eyes and her face was unreadable . I turned a corner into a dark alley way . It was empty . I turned around . Nobody was there either . I let out a sigh of relief into the darkness .
"Rem , you're back !"
"I never left ."

Rem's pov

Misa's face was puzzled and she pouted as if she was deeply thinking . She turned back to me , but said nothing . She didn't need to . I could tell that she was still hurt that I let her think that I was dead .
"Look , misa ..."
But before I could finish my sentence , misa stopped me .
"I know , Rem . It wasn't safe for me to know that you were alive . As long as your here now that's all that matters ."
"Misa ?"
"Yes ."
"You haven't changed a bit ."

Misa's pov

We continued to chat , like old times . Soon those days without Rem faded away into thin air ,  and like that it was misa and Rem again against the world once again . It's funny how time fades away and soon becomes forgotten , lost in time . Rem was starting at my face and she seemed puzzled .
"Rem ? "
"Yes."
"Are you okay ?"
"Yes  ,why do you ask ?"
"You seem distracted and you've gone quiet ."
"No , I'm just wondering ."
"About what ?" I asked merely intrigued .
"About L actually ."
"L ?"
"Yes."
"What about L ?"
"Just a thought ."
"Tell me !"
"It's silly,  really ."
"Tell me !"
"I was wondering if he is dead ."
"Not dead !!! Light killed him ."
"I told you it was silly ."
"It's not silly,  it's impossible. "
"Forget I mentioned it ."
L alive ?! That's preposterous . How ? But I couldn't help thinking , what if it's true ... should I mention this to light ? No , I wouldn't want to worry him besides it's impossible , isnt it ?
