"Stop being crazy, Scarlett! We are not going to school today," Asher commanded.

"Asher, it's senior year, I'm trying to get away from this god-forsaken town after graduation. The only way to do that is to actually graduate."

"I think that's all fine and good, but you need to take a breather. You haven't given yourself a break and you definitely need one."

"Honey, I'm sorry, but I agree with Asher. You need a break, I think you should take this week off from school just to recuperate. You need to give your body rest in order to properly heal," Danielle interjected.

I sighed and set down my straightener, "Okay. But I need you to get my homework for me, Ash, I can't fall too far behind."

"I'm staying home with you," he stated firmly, "Remember, CJ only gets to you when I'm not around. There is no way in hell I'm going to leave you here alone since the police still haven't found him."

"Okay, then I'll text James and see if he can get me my homework."

Danielle left for work after letting me know she had gone to the grocery store and stocked the fridge and pantry for me and Asher while we stayed home for the week. Jackson left soon after and took Macy to school on the way. It was only me and Asher at the house for the day.

We spent most of the morning just lounging in our pajamas and watching TV. I was getting bored and wanted nothing but to go and paint, but all of my art supplies was at my mom's house and there was no way I was going back there any time soon.

It was almost 12:30 when Asher suggested we go to get some lunch.

"But your mom got a bunch of food for us so we wouldn't have to go buy any."

"Yeah, but I really want a burger and onion rings and I can guarantee she didn't buy either of those," he winked. I laughed and shook my head at him, but agreed to go to the Main Street Diner to grab a quick bite.

We changed into normal clothes and took his car to the diner.

The waitress was a lovely elderly woman who told us what a polite and attractive couple we were. She brought us our burgers and onion rings and Asher dug in immediately.

I munched on my onion rings and nibbled the burger. "Not hungry, babe?" Asher asked.

"No, I honestly don't have much of an appetite. I think it's the painkillers that Dr. McCoy prescribed."

"Scarlett!" a voice exclaimed to get my attention. I turned to see who it was and found Lauren walking towards our booth.

"Hey Lauren! How are you?" I asked and stood up to hug her. She gave me a tight squeeze and I made a slight gasp of pain. Asher noticed and was about to say something but I stopped him.

"I think the more important question is how are you? James told me about what happened to you last night! I can't believe CJ did that! I hope they find him soon."

"I'm okay, I'm in a lot of pain, some ribs are broken and I have a concussion, but I'm lucky because that fall could have killed me."

Lauren's mouth was wide open, "Oh my gosh! You poor thing! Is there anything I can do for you?"

"Thank you for offering, but I have James collecting my homework for me and then I have Asher here to take care of me at home."

Lauren smiled warmly at Asher, "I'm Lauren by the way, I don't think we've ever officially met." Asher reached out a hand to shake hers.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Lauren."

"Well, if there is anything I can do to help you two out, please let me know. I need to get back to class, but I hope you feel better, Scarlett." she gave me one last hug and then left the diner.
