Devon's step mom walked inside her bedroom opening the windows "wake up it's your first day as a senior, get up you're gonna be late, move your lazy ass..."
Devon covering her face with her blanket mumbles" 5 more min.. please"

"No, you need to get up, your father and I have a meeting today, so you are driving your sisters. I don't want them to be late for their first day " Clara said pulling Devon's blanket off of her.

Without another word Devon got up, did her usual morning routine, she put on a black pants ripped on the knees with a white and red Jordan tank top and Snickers ,and even helped her six year old half sister, Sophie, to get ready , specially after knowing that her step mom finally got convinced that Devon having a car on her own is something needed in the family , after she got promoted at work and a promotion always comes with a busier schedule.

Sitting on the table, the three sisters were eating their cereal when their fourteen years old brother Daniel showed up wearing his usual soccer outfit "good morning, what a beautiful day, today's our first day of school who's excited?..."
"I should've expected u to be like that... I mean our new hottie neighbor is going to our school .... Now you'd be able to find a better spot to stare at her other than your room's window...." The elven years old Sara said looking up from her bowl to receive a glare from Daniel. "Burrrrrrrnnn...."Sophie said keeping her head down earning a smack from Daniel on her head. "ouch... Dev" Sophie pouted, knowing that she's Devon's little angel and Devon would do anything for her, literally anything, especially with everybody calling her little Dev, she's more likely the small girly version of Devon."she started it..." Daniel rose his arms defensively,

"yeah still,,you know my rules!!" Devon playfully glared at him. "sorry little Dev "he leaned kissing a satisfied Sophie on her temple. "By the way Dev what spell did you use to change mom's mind bout u having the car for yourself?... Ima need it to convince her to let me go with my friends on the road trip..." Daniel whispered so their mom won't hear. "I think she finally understood what my dad was referring to when he said they should use the advantage of me becoming an adult.." Devon replied.

After finishing their breakfast they headed to school in Devon's white 2010 Volkswagen GTI, which she got as an 16th birthday gift from her dad, but never had the chance to drive before today thanks to her step mom's lack of confidence in her driving abilities, so it was kind of a shock when she allowed her, not just to drive ,but to drive her half sisters to school.

After dropping their sisters at their elementary school and giving little Dev a piggy back ride to her class, Devon and Daniel took the road again heading to their school which is 10 minutes away " Do u still miss her?" Daniel blurted out of nowhere breaking the silence between them.

"All the time.." was all what Devon said before turning off the engine avoiding her brother's gaze trying to hide the tears forming in her eyes.

"Me too even tho I don't know anything bout her except for the things you told me...I wish I was older and able to remember every moment we shared with her, at least I'd be able to feel what you are goin through right now..but I want you to always keep in mind that I'm always here for you, don't hide the pain behind your strong personality, don't try to protect me like that.."He squeezed her knee while she kept looking outside the window as her first tear threatened to roll down.

"..'through the sorrow and the joy, it's us against the world...' that's one of your favorite memories about her ,she always reminded you and made you promise her and me that we will always remain each other's rock... isn't that why you are overprotective with me?! Lemme be your rock Devi, lemme fulfill the job she gave me and..." He was cut off by strong arms wrapping around his neck " It's....us against....the..world.." she said finally surrounding to her tears.
