(Y/N) P.O.V

Now that I'm standing in front of the entrance, hearing all of the cheers and muffled fair music in the background. The bright colours and lights assault my eyes, while the air is filled with a sickeningly sweet smell of cotton candy and popcorn. I'm wondering... why on earth did I agree to this. More importantly, what in this entire universe, made me agree to take Alfred with me?

"Come on dudette! What are ya waiting for? you look like a right idiot just standing there and gawking" He shoves my shoulder, with no regard as to whether I can stay upright from it or not, then goes running off into the fair. It's true that since a few days ago, me and Alfred have somewhat become 'friends' but I still refuse to completely let my guard down around him, actually now that I think about it I may have doubled my caution in his presence.

I don't put the façade up anymore, he knows its fake anyway, but that's only when no one else who recognises me is around. One thing that I forgot, and greatly regret forgetting, is that Katayusha and Natalia are joining us, well more like I'm supposed to be joining them. Nor Alfred or my two childhood friends know about this sudden arrangement, I'm honestly dreading both of their reactions since Kata and Natalia are now very aware of the, former, relationship between me and Alfred.

My first thought is to maybe try loosing the energetic blonde in the crowd, then pretend like I could find him. So I put that plan to action, without warning him I start walking in my own direction. I was told to meet them near the Farris wheel, so I follow the sight of the tall round structure. I was starting to get my hopes up, yet to my disappointment and great surprise, Alfred following close behind me, not even two steps away, the entire time.

"Where are we going?" His voice sounds almost out of nowhere, I didn't even know he was there so I ended up jumping a mile.

After yelping, I turn my head to glare at him. He was holding his sides and wheezing with obnoxious laughter. "Somewhere" I answer his question in a stern, annoyed voice.

"Geez I always thought you where an airhead but I never thought it was this bad, that's so lame" He matches his pace with mine. I look away and dismiss his comment with a roll of my (E/C) eyes, like I usually would. After a minute or so of walking something catches his attention. "This is boring... Hey Lets go check that out!" He points in a direction but I don't even look, simply because I don't get the chance to before he grabs my arm and drags me. I almost trip over my own feet, sometimes I really manage to forget how unbelievably strong he is, especially since all I ever see him eating is fast food.

"What is it?" I demand once he has let go of me. I cross my arms and lean to the side slightly, keeping a sceptical eye on him as he shows me a bunch of mini game stalls.

"I bet I can totally win all of these" He claims cockily, grinning at me as if he's trying to gain either my approval or challenge.

I give him the challenge. "Yeah I highly daupt that."

He pouts almost angrily then pivots on the spot to face the stalls. "Just watch me!" He seems to accept the challenge and stomps over to the first stall. This looks like it would take a while, so I just walk off to one of the food stalls nearby and take my phone out.

I text Katayusha. 'Hey I'm sorry but I'm being a little held up right now, just go a bit without me I'll join later'

The reply comes almost immediately. 'You know I was about to text you the same thing, our house is a little further away and we're stuck in traffic.'

This is convenient but inconvenient at the same time. 'So when about will you make it?' I text back. I momentarily glance up from my phone to see Alfred grinning proudly at me, three prizes already in hand... I may have underestimated him.

My phone buzzes in my hand again. 'In about half an hour at most. Also, you won't mind if Ivan also comes along?'

Yes I will mind. Since my own surprise guest doesn't exactly get along with the tall Russian. I never saw it directly, but I can sense the mood well enough to know that the air gets heavy whenever the two are in the same room. 'I don't mind. To be honest... I brought another person with me a well. You'll see who once you get here' After sending I place the phone back in my pocket. Then I become aware of the faint sound of giggling and snickering somewhere behind me.

"Oh my god, isn't that that ratchet that goes to our school?"

"I think it is. Oh my look at her, what a loser coming here all on her own"

I don't recognise the voices immediately, but I know that they re talking about me. The small curve of a smile that was on my face before, is there no longer. Instead I replace it with a straight line, even though I have my back turned to them. I walk up to the side of the food stall and lean against it, watching Alfred get lost further and further into the crowd as he wins one game after another. I end up getting entranced by watching his figure within the crowd,  I end up drowning out the continued snickering and gossip from the girls behind me.

My mistake. I don't fully comprehend what happened as I feel a cold, lumpy liquid slide down my back. I bring a hand to feel my hair, the back of it is also covered in lumpy strawberry milkshake. The two girls then walk around and face me.

"Oops sorry about that, I tripped." The first one, a dark brunette, giggles right after saying that.

The other one is slightly taller and ginger. "My I didn't expect to see you here... sorry I forgot your name darling" She leans in, as if she expected me to answer.

Luckily I don't have to. "Hey what's going on?" A loud voice cuts through the air, the two girls suddenly loose interest in me and both of them move to cling to the tall boy that approached, Alfred.

"I didn't know you were here to Al" The ginger one twirls her hair around her finger.

The brunette blows a bubble-gum bubble and pops it before speaking. "We were just taking care of her." She scowls at me, though I respond with just a blank look. "That's the girl you said you hated right? We don't want her to bother you, so should we take care of her?"

I already knew Alfred was never that fond of me, so why did it sting when she said that? I roll my eyes then move them to make eye contact with Alfred's bright blue hues. We are 'friends' now right? I believe he should clear things up with them. I begin to slowly brush out the milkshake with my fingers, while I wait for Alfred to answer.

"Yeah I-" I hear hesitation in his voice. I look back up and he's looking down at me coldly. "Don't bother. I was looking for some company, so lets go somewhere else." He the leaves with the two girls giggling and fawning over him.

Did he... Did he just-?

My phone buzzes again. Without taking my eyes away from the place at which I last saw Alfred walking away, I take it out and read the text that showed up in the notifications. 'Good news (Y/N), the traffic died down much faster then we thought. We are almost there, just go to meet us at the entrance'

After reading I drop my hand along with my phone back to my side. The wind must have started pricking my eyes, because I feel them sting. It's such a foreign feeling, like needles trying to push their way in, though not quite managing to make them spill. Yeah the wind must have really picked up...

...

There is no wind.
