Stupid spontaneity

Today was the day of the presentation, me and Alfred had spent a lot of time preparing it at my house, once again reminding me that I've never actually been at his before. It has also been a few days since we started 'dating' and In all honesty, I was expecting a lot more backlash. The guys have definitely kept their distance from me recently, some of the girls from the nicer end of the spectrum also backed down. Even rumours aren't that frequent or at least not as horrible anymore, it's strange but it's a nice change that I would gladly get used too. Shame that it's only supposed to last like three months or so.

"Alright. Alfred and (Y/N), you're up next." The teacher calls us and both of us make our way to the front.

For our presentation we, or should I say Alfred, had a stupid yet at the same time genius idea to dress up for it. Part of me was hoping that the teacher would forbid it and we'd just end up doing it normally, but of course she was enthusiastic about it and let us get changed before the lesson started.

Alfred was dressed in the blue American uniform, while I was in the red British one. Unlike me, who took all ounces of my will to hold onto my last pieces of dignity, Alfred was showing off and getting way, way too into character.

"The American revolution. Between 1765 and 1783, surely a time every American can be proud of-" Alfred began the intro in an upbeat, rather over the top in-character voice. During his part of the speech I kept catching the various stares and awe-struck faces of many of the girls in the class, however every one would look away when they saw that I spotted them, occasionally some of them would sneer or scowl at me before looking away. Strange.

Alfred finished his speech, receiving scattered applause, then made a game-show like gesture to me, signaling that it's my turn to talk. I instinctively rolled my eyes at him before speaking. "In April 1775 kicked off the armed conflict-"

Alfred P.O.V

When (Y/N) began speaking I found myself becoming awestruck along with some other guys in the class. I remember her other presentations, the ones she did alone, her voice would be monotone and she put little effort into putting emotion into it. Now however, she was speaking normally, like she does to me, as if we were alone together... Wait, we aren't alone though are we? Does she even realize that the whole class has their eyes on her right now? I've been noticing this for some time now, she's ever so slowly becoming less cold to those around her, even letting small smiles and frowns slip past her vanguard sometimes.

I was happy about it at first, since I realised that this whole time I've been going around it wrong, I was happy that she was slowly warming up. Yet now... Now that I see that this side of her draws in... Attention... Unwanted attention at that, it began to irritate me. Not just that, it seems to me that the guys are staring more then usual today, maybe it's the outfit? It definitely differs greatly from her usual sweaters, hoodies and jackets. The British uniform has been modified to fit her better, outlining her figure and being tighter in the right places. I'd be fine with it otherwise if only...

If only they'd stop staring. 💢

The presentation ends and we are asked to take our seats, the teacher said that we can get changed later during lunch. I of course return to my friend group and subtly talk with them before the next one starts.

"Hey Alfred... I've got a random question." (RD/N) whispers from the next desk over.

"What is it?" I lean over to avoid being too loud and pissing off the teacher.

"Are you reeeally dating (Y/N)? I mean, you used to hate her, I watched you beat her up for christ sake!" He whisper-yelled. "Plus I haven't seen you acting couple-like at all, have you two even kissed?"

"Pfft What are you on about? Of course we have, she's just shy so she doesn't like it in public." I avoid answering the first part by lying.

"Seriously? Come on, you could at least do it once, just to prove it?" He gives me a suggestive smirk and nods his head in (Y/N)s direction.

"What are you trying to imply?" Oh I know exactly what he wants me to do, I just need to be sure.

"You know. After this lesson is over, just go up to her and kiss her. I won't believe that you two are together until you do it."

"I just said she doesn't like it in public." I furrow my brows and shake my head.

"Yeah she'll get mad this one time, but it's not like she'll flog you over it." There is no arguing against that. Part of me wants to make another excuse, but the other...

"Yeah right! Fine, I'll do it. You better have the camera ready!" I joke, not expecting him to take the last sentence seriously. I feel triumphant when he looks away but then I realise... Me and (Y/N) aren't dating for real, neither have we kissed of even hugged for that matter.

I feel my face pale. Just what in the word did I sign up for...

The last presentation comes to an end and the class erupts into robotic applause for the last time. There is still some time before lunch but I get out of my seat anyway. Before I can leave to get changed (RD/N) catches my arm and turns me to face in (Y/N)s direction. She's just gathering her things and is also about to leave the classroom.

"I've got the camera~" He whispers into my ear borderline maliciously.

I click my tongue and shake him off before boldly stomping over to (Y/N), feigning confidence. She doesn't say anything, just looks up to me with bored (E/C) eyes. I'm glad she didn't say anything, because if she did it would've crumbled the spontaneity which was currently driving me, and bring me back into the reality past my want to show off.

I swiftly take her forearm and pull it back, forcing her to take a step forward. She loses balance and almost collides with my chest, yet I bow down and instead my lips collide with hers. Her eyes widen out of proportion, her other hand which she was going to use to steady herself froze in midair. Contrary to her, I close my eyes and lose myself in the warmth of her unmoving lips, she isnt kissing back, but neither is she pushing me away. That fact alone almost makes me want to deepen it, however the cold realisation of my surroundings brings me back, a lot faster than I hoped it would, and I pull away just as fast as I started it.

I don't want to look at her, bet she doesn't want to look at me too, but I force myself to do it anyway. She's staring at me, her shining (E/C) hues are showing signs of water, her cheeks have dyed into an embarrassed shade of red.

"Um... (Y/N)? Dudette?" I question once her silence has become unbearable. The crowd behind me erupted into various sounds of cheer, astonishment, disgust and occasionally jealousy.

"A-Al..." She finally stutters out, yet as she continued to speak the 'happiness' and calmness in her voice sounded more and more forced. "Lets go outside. Alone. Somewhere where no one can disturb us." Her forced smile is even colder and scarier then all of her previous glares combined.

"O-of course... Babe." I let out a string of nervous laughter as she drags me out of the classroom.

"Rest in pieces Al!" (RD/N) yells and snickers after me, I look in his direction to see that he really did have a camera, which was really his phone, out.

I am dead. I am so, so dead.
