I only hesitated slightly as I mulled over Draco's question, whilst we sat against the wall and watched the Vanishing Cabinet. "Truth" I answered finally, going along with the Muggle game that had grown popular in the Slytherin dorms due to its nature.

Draco thought for a second, the two of us had rarely agreed to dares so truths had been more common so I had already admitted to snogging Theodore Nott in the fourth year amongst various other things, some embarrassing and others not so much. "Do you remember much from my engagement party?"

Avoiding looking at the blonde sitting beside me, I tensed up a little bit. "I remember earlier parts, talking with Aquarius and drinking champagne... Why?".

The blue eyed boy shook his head, "it doesn't matter" he responded as a small noise came from the Vanishing Cabinet and the two of us were immediately standing up on our feet.

"I'll check it" I announced, quickly jumping over a few of the things that scattered the messy ground of the Room of Requirement's current form. Placing a pale, freckled hand on the doorknob I carefully opened it to find the green apple we had put in there had returned with a rather decent sized bite taken out of it. I wrinkled my nose and moved so Draco could pick it up. "Wanna play a guessing game of Greyback or Bellatrix?" I joked lightheartedly.

"Greyback doesn't eat fruit or vegetables" Draco murmured, I shivered a little bit remembering that Greyback kept his werewolf tendencies even when a full moon wasn't present, tendencies like eating raw meat that was sometimes human.

I nodded slightly and rubbed my arm as Draco cursed the apple to shrivel up and die, before throwing it further into the cluttered Room of Requirement.

"What class do you have now?" The blonde asked, though his voice was rather flat as if he wasn't all that interested.

I sighed a little, dusting off my uniform. "Care for Magical Creatures and then I'm free for the rest of the day. What about you?"

"Free period, then Defence Against the Dark Arts, then I'm free". There was a sense of irony in that class, a Death Eater studying Defence Against the Dark Arts and a Death Eater teaching it too.

I nodded slightly and the two of us left the room, as the door disappeared leaving no sign that it was ever there in the first place.

For a month things went about like that, pretending to be normal and attend classes, sneak off to the Room of Requirement to test the Vanishing Cabinet, ignore each other for the rest of the day, then speak to each other after everyone else had fallen asleep.

There were times in our conversations where it was like nothing had ever changed, we were thirteen years old again, there were no Dark Marks on our arm, there was no engagement to Lyra, there was no pressure; just two friends sitting in the Slytherin Common Room.

Over that one month I saw Draco change dramatically, he went from being fine about becoming a Death Eater to absolutely petrified, his usually well kept hair became a tousled mess and the bags under his eyes told me that he wasn't sleeping as much as he said he was. I considered giving him my vial of Liquido Virtute but it would only give him one day of courage and then he was back to square one, so I figured that he would be okay without it.

That was at least until our letters came, mine was an invite to the exclusive Slug Club that was having a dinner at the end of the week and Draco's... wedding plans.
