Two weeks have passed since Liang's arrival. He had grown used to life on Dragon's Edge even befriending Fishlegs and the Twins. Though she was still suspicious of him, Astrid became an acquaintance. During his time there he slowly opened up to the riders; telling stories of his childhood (leaving out details of bending though) and legends from his world. He was currently in Hiccup's office/workplace hut. Since he did have his own hut and he didn't want to intrude on the others he decided to sleep in the office until a hut could be built. In his dreams he had nightmares about those who had trained him.
' You have no purpose Avatar...'
' We don't need you..'
' Useless...No purpose...'
He awakened in a cold sweat panting and breathing heavily. Looking around trying to figure out where he is until he remembers and then sighs hunching over and pinching the bridge of his nose. Waking up and getting dressed to go out and help with the others on the island.
I didn't take long for the island to go into full swing as everyone was awake and doing there own thing for the day. At some point while Liang was repairing a building on the island he noticed the others had gathered together and were discussing something. As quietly as possible he snuck into the room and listened carefully to what they were talking about.
"Ever since the Dagur incident our defenses have gotten better but that still doesn't mean we can be lazy. Dagur could always return so we must be ready for another surprise attack," Hiccup comments as the others agreed. Astrid followed up with reports on Dagur's ships; the young avatar stayed in hiding with a hurt look on his face.
"So it seems they have an enemy they have been hiding from me. Guess I'm still not trustworthy...." he mutters to himself before quickly leaving and heading to the cliff where he spoke to Hiccup. Sitting down and facing the water he meditated; attempting to call upon the wisdom of one of many past lives.
"What is wrong Avatar Liang?" A voice questioned as he slowly opened his eyes to see Avatar Aang. An excited smile slowly crawled its way onto Liang's face as the Aang sat before him.
"It is nice to see you Avatar Aang," he says while bowing his head slightly.
"Aang is just fine. I may be one of your past lives but we don't have to be so formal," Aang says with one of his infamous dorky smiles. This expression helped calm Liang's nerves.
"Well...I'm in a new world and the people I have befriended still don't trust me." Liang begins to explain how he got here and the weeks spent. Aang puzzled over the situation.
"Well Liang I believe it's time you told them the truth. I remember the day Katara and Sokka figured out I was the avatar. Of course it was awkward but it was the first steps to create a bond that could never be broken." Aang said as he remembered his grand adventures with his friends. As he looked down at Liang he smiled then patted his head.
"In this world it will be harder for them to understand but at least it will lead to something great forming between you and them..." Aang says before slowly fading away leaving Liang to think.
"He's right...nothing will come out if I keep holding in the truth from them. It doesn't matter what happens once they learn of the truth, at least they'll know the truth." Liang says as he got up staring out to the sea, a cold breeze wrapped around his body. He soon began to air bend creating strong gust of wind to go through the trees, one of these gusts cut a branch straight off. With joy Laing continued to bend as he flipped between earth, water, fire, & air. The dragon riders failed to notice Liang's absence as they flew off to go in search for Dagur.
A few odd hours passed before Liang returned to the edge just as the others came back. The riders spotted Liang walking towards them, his clothing showing odd signs of having been in some sort of attack. Charring on his sleeve, twigs and leaves in his messy hair and clothing.
"Liang what happened to you?" Fishlegs asked the teen with concern.
"Well I was umm...." Liang drifted off as he was thinking up a lie. Astrid glanced towards Hiccup with a look of untrust towards the strange man.
"....I was up on the cliff thinking of ways I could explain the truth to you all." Liang admitted which quickly got the attention of the riders.
"Oh please tell me you are Loki in disguise!" Tuffnut shouts with excitement. Liang softly chuckles.
"I think me being one of your Gods would make it easier but sadly no." He sarcastically answers.
"So what are you then?" Snotlout aggressively questions causing the avatar to sigh, he had grown used to the many empty threats and harsh language of the rider of the Nightmare.
"All will be explained tonight, I promise you all that. I've grown to accept whatever you may think of me afterwards." Liang states looking towards all of them reassuringly.
' Where would go once they kick us off?' A voice questions in the avatars head, a look of doubt quickly passes his face which does not go unnoticed by Hiccup, Astrid, & Fishlegs.
"So no more secrets?" Astrid ask rather calmly which gets Liang out of his thoughts.
"Yes...no more secrets, all will be known and is you have any questions I'll do my best to explain." Liang answers. The riders all nod as they go to let There dragons rest for the remaining hours of the day.
As dinner was being finished Liang stood up. They all watched him with judgment; the young avatar gulped as his body began to be wracked by his nerves.
