As Charlie walks through town, he is quickly surrounded by girls. But one girl dismisses the group and continues walking to the store that her father had sent her too. Penelope Salvatore was on her way to get her father suit which he had to get tailored for the annual Founder's Day Ball. As soon as Penelope enters the seamstress' shop, his suit was instantly handed to her. Ms. Gilbert knows that Mr. Salvatore, Penelope's dad, doesn't like to wait for anything. Ms. Gilbert, also, hands Penelope a dress.

"It was Danielle's when she was 15. She doesn't fit it anymore and I wanted to give it to you. She wouldn't mind." Ms. Gilbert says. Danielle, her daughter, was Penelope's old babysitter. Danielle is now 27 years old.

Penelope walks out and walks past the group of girls surrounding Charlie and went home. Charlie has taken an interest in Penelope that he asked his dad, Mayor Lockwood, to invite them over for dinner that night. The Salvatores accepted the invitation graciously.

Stefan, Damon, Penelope and Mr. Salvatore had a good time at the Lockwood's house for dinner. After dinner, Charlie, Stefan and Damon to play football while Penelope and Sarah, Charlie's older sister, went and watched them from the porch.

After the game, Charlie and Penelope talked and he asked her to the Founder's Day Ball. She said yes because she liked Charlie and didn't want to be rude. Also, her father had told her that he wanted her to go to the Founder's Ball with Charlie, if he asked and he did. That night, Penelope told her dad that Charlie asked her to the Founder's Ball and her father was delighted.

Two weeks later, at the Founder's Ball, Charlie asked Penelope to be his girlfriend. She accepted with no hesitation. That night, she stayed with Charlie. They had sex. Charlie blew her mind that night but then a week later, he broke up with her. She was devastated. Then she knew why.

Katherine Pierce had entered town and she took all the men by surprise. She stayed with the Salvatores and had a relationship with Charlie, Stefan and Damon. For over a year, she fed them vampire blood and drank from them. But also during that year, Penelope found out she was pregnant. Penelope's father was not happy and when she gave birth, her father took her daughter away and put her up for adoption. Penelope was depressed for a while then she and her two brothers were shot and killed, trying to save Katherine.

All of them woke up, in transition to become vampires. Penelope turned completely when she and Stefan when back to their father. Stefan had killed their father but they both drank from him. Then Stefan found a girl for Damon to drink. He did and he killed her.

Then Stefan, during his first ripper binge, had met his best friend, Lexi. She helped Stefan and Penelope get control of human blood. Lexi and Penelope were close for a while then she and Stefan had left. Penelope was devastated but she kept a handle on the urge to kill people.
