In 1910, Penelope went to New Orleans in hope to find Stefan and Lexi. But she didn't. She found love instead, with Kol Mikaelson. He didn't think he'd fall in love either until they met during a party that the Mikaelsons had thrown. Klaus, Kol's brother, had also taken an interest in Penelope. But she only had feelings for Kol.
During the next four years, Kol and Penelope fell in love and grew such a strong bond that nothing could break them apart. Except Klaus. He was so jealous of how Kol and Penelope had a perfect relationship that he wanted to end it so he daggered Kol, making Penelope think that he left her. Klaus and his family ran because of Mikael, their father. After the Mikaelson disappearance, Penelope turned her humanity off and went through a dark period, going on ripper binges, slaughtering thousands of people. But then Lexi found her and Penelope turned her humanity back on.
