Nathan and I strolled down his old street, arms linked together. Nathan was unusually quiet, but I guess I could understand because his mother had just hit him. I looked over at him to see him deep in thought. "Are you going to be okay?" I spoke up. He looked over at me and swallowed.

"She's never hit me before," he said quietly.

I sympathized for him. "I'm sure she regretted it as soon as she did it. Did you see her face?" I said trying to cheer him up. He shrugged and said nothing. "Do you want me to walk you home?" I asked him.

"U-hm, no. I need to go return this." He responded by holding up his hand and showing me the phone. I nodded and gave him a quick hug. "You'll be fine." I said before sending a quick smile his way and watched him walk down the road. Everybody feels down a few times in their life. Even Nathan.

The next day everyone was dancing with someone, even Alisha, besides from Nathan. He sat on a chair staring at everyone with a sulking look on his face. I contemplated going over there but thought twice about it. Whatever was going on with him, or with his mum, he needed to work it out for himself.

'Your Beautiful' by James Blunt pounded from the speakers. Kelly was doing some wicked moves on the dance floor, though some people would instinctly call her a chav. I felt horrible after I thought she was a chav the first time I saw her. Simon was awkwardly lifting his arms up into the air, and Iaughed freely at how funny he looked. Alisha moved her body to the beat next to her dance partner, though not touching him. Curtis swayed to the music with his.

I kept looking back at the Irish boy who sat alone on his chair. Nathans' sad aura was getting to me. 'Don't get involved Rose, don't get involved' I chanted in my head. I cocked my head in confusion as Nathan watched in terror as an Elder woman slowly walked toward him. He tripped over as he stood up and raced out the door. I stopped dancing at stared at the door he just left through. Kelly came over to me.

"What's wrong with him?" She asked me.

I shrugged. "I have no idea," I answered her. I saw the old lady that tried to approach Nathan walk to me.

"Do you where Nathan is?" The old lady asked me.

"I think he went to go take a piss," I lied. Kelly nudged me in the ribs. I sighed, "I mean loo. I think he went to the loo." She shook her said sadly before leaving the building as well, but at a very slow pace.

"Do you think that was his grandma or something?" Kelly asked.

I shook my head. "I don't think so. I think that was something else entirely."

After the old people party, we got changed back into our community service outfits, got some alligator tongs and black trash bags to pick up litter while we looked for Nathan. Around 10 minutes of wandering around we found him sitting by the flow sucking on a cigarette.

"Hey, what happened to you?" Curtis asked him while swinging his bag.

"Those things can give you cancer," I commented.

He ignored me. "I will not be in a room while that song is playing," he stated, "laying in the sand my friend."

"Some old woman was looking for you," I told him. He looked down and grimaced.

"You shagged her?" She shot at him. My mouth dropped open.

A pained look came over him. "Yeah- yeah nice one! I gave her a right good seeing to." I wrinkled my nose in disgust. "That is just not right," I moaned.

"You totally shagged her," said Alisha laughing.

Nathan panicked, "no, no. No!" He stood up in protest.

"You nailed that old woman?" Curt asked like he couldn't believe it. I couldn't either to be honest. "Awh that's wrong!"

"Did you enjoy it?"  Simon asked him. We all laughed at Nathans face.

"Shut up you little freak!" He yelled back at Simon.

Simon gave us a look, "I think he enjoyed it," he said with a little grin. I smiled back at him.

"Are you into that sort of stuff?" Curtis questioned.

Nathan shook his head rapidly. "No! She didn't look like that when we started, alright? You know that volunteer I was talking to on Tuesday? Beautiful, young.  That wrinkly old bint? That was her! It was the storm, it made her young again," he protested to us. I shook my head and dragged my hands down him face. I don't think anyone is going to let this go.

"Please, please tell me you didn't," she spread her fingers apart and poked her tongue through, wiggling it up and down. Nathan looked at Kelly and I with an ashamed expression. "You did!" she laughed at him. Everyone except Kelly and me started laughing, putting their hands on their knees or stomachs from the force of their laughter.

Nathan started to walk away going back to sucking on his cancer stick. Kelly shoved past the others and called out to him. "Nathan! I didn't mean to tell them it just came out!"

"Oh really? Great job then," he said sarcastically. "Well done." He shoved past Kelly and started to walk away. "And stay out of my head okay?!" He shouted at her.

I frowned at the way he spoke to her. Kelly didn't deserve that. Sure, she should've kept her mouth shut but she didn't mean to tell us. Nathan had no right to treat her like that. "Granny F*cker!" I yelled out after him.

A couple days later we were back in the locker room, and the thing with Nathan and the granny was almost blown over.

"I told you other people got messed up by the storm but you didn't believe me," Kelly said to Nathan applying some lipgloss.

"Yeah well I was wrong, wasn't I?" He responded stuffing his hands in his pockets. "There's a hurricane of weird sh*t going on out there."

Alisha laughed before licking through her fingers again. "Oh, aha. Another oral sex gag, brilliant." Nathan huffed.

Simon closed his locker, "we need to be ready for when they come after us."

I cocked my head. "What are you talking about?"

"The other people that got caught in the storm." He said.

"And why would they come after us?" I asked him.

"Because that's what people do."

"And if they do, we'll just tell them that it was all your fault." Nathan said to him smiling. "Job done." He turned and opened up his locker, stopping when he looked over his locker door. I peered over his shoulder. My heart stopped.

Taped into the inside of his locker door, a missing poster for our dead probation stared us in the face. A black marker had etched the words 'I know'  next to his photo. I swallowed nervously.

"Curtis?" I asked. "You know that note you found in your locker? I think it was talking about the probation worker." I said. The others gathered around Nathans locker.

"Shit," breathed Alisha.

I don't know if this is late or not, but here's an update! What do you think?

Teaser for next  two chapters; Alisha gets sexually frustrated with Curtis, Nathan looks into what his power might be, and Kelly experiences hair problems.
