Aftermath (Pt.6)

"Belated Happy Birthday, Yuzu! Congratulations on your new GPF title."

I handed him my promised artwork after finishing it for four straight months. It was a 45x45 cm oil painting that I had to rush slighty just so I could give it to him by the end of the year.

Although it was absolutely challenging in my part, the feeling of finally finishing something as special as this artwork makes me really glad.

This is probably the best thing I could do for him now.

Fiddling with the hem of my brown trench coat, I waited for him to open the cover. Yuzuru just came back after deciding to spend his holidays in Sendai. Months have already passed since summer, and it's great to know that his decisions turned out good for himself in the end.

The season is currently approaching the 2022 Winter Olympics, and everyone else especially him, was as hectic compared to the last one.

It all started when Yuzuru finally decided to clear up all of his misunderstandings with JSF, the media, and of course his skating fans. He took that opportunity to also announce his comeback before drowning himself in training.

Fortunately, Orser gladly took him in despite being busy. At least for the last time, that is.

And the news definitely made everyone fall off their seats.

I mean, who wouldn't be surprised and excited to know that the World champion-turned-28 still decided to go strong for his 3rd Olympics, and this time, with much more pressure than the last previous seasons?

Heck, they even expected him to retire already.

Sensation ran across my body and stopped my train of thoughts as something warm softly clash against me.

"Thank you so much for this!"

I chuckled as he continued to squeeze the life out of me. Besides the fact that I can hardly breathe, my heart is apparently doing somersaults with Yuzuru's gesture.

We finally broke off the hug after a few minutes and he decided to take a look at the painting again.

"It's so incredible," he commented as if out of breath while I join him to look at my portrait.

In retrospective, I did had a little trouble trying to make the painting less simple and bland. So I had this kind of a last minute idea to fill his surroundings with several palettes of blue, purple, green, and gold.

And looking at it now, I guess it helped make the painting look a lot more better. I would've been embarrassed if Yuzuru received the painting the way I originally intended it to look like.

"I really keep forgetting that my girlfriend has this unbelievable gift from above. I'm such a bad boyfriend."

A flustered smile couldn't help itself and crawl its way up in my face.

"Do you realize how amazing you actually are, Sena?"

Instead of answering, I leaned in and softly touch his face, giving him the sweetest kiss I could muster to show my gratitude in return.

This is worth all my year supply of confidence because I can not do this embarrassing thing again.

But I guess it was all worth the shot when it was his turn to get flustered.

"I think I just realized it now, Yuzu."
