"Miss? Can you hear me?"

A voice started to ring through her head. She couldn't hear the sound clearly, and although the words were slurred she somehow understood.

"W-Where am I?"

She tried opening her eyes but her vision was immediately blinded by a bright, flashing light.

Then the pain shot across her body. Everything suddenly started to hurt. She couldn't quite comprehend of her situation yet and her head kept ringing nonstop. The pain was driving her insane.

"Call the doctor now. The patient's awake."

Another wave of pain crashed through the left side of her head as her hand automatically went up to it. She tried to stand up and open her eyes but it was all too much.

She groaned as the throbbing continued, each wave becoming worse. It only came to a stop when she felt a short sting on her arm, losing her conscience in the process.

"Miss Shinomiya? May I come in?"

The door went slightly ajar as the doctor's head pop in. "Yes. And please, just Mirai."

It was now morning and ten hours had already passed since the incident last night. Mirai just finished taking her breakfast before the appointment with her doctor.

"Nice to meet you, Mirai. I'm Dr. Mills. I'll be taking care of you regarding your condition."

They both shook hands as Dr. Mills took a seat, a few inches away from her bed.

The doctor opened his tablet as he click on the patient's file. He continued to read on it for a few minutes until he finally focused on Mirai who still had a bandage wrapped around her head.

"You were diagnosed with a minor concussion located at the left side of your brain. Do you remember any incident that led you to this injury?"

Mirai shook her head, much to the doctor's slight disappointment. She already tried remembering what really happened before she got into the hospital, but everything still seemed blurry.

"As expected. We stitched a small open wound on the side of your head so I'll be prescribing your medicines for your recovery. You won't need any more painkillers." Dr. Mills stood up from the chair and tuck his device on his coat's pocket.

"Mirai, your brain is still sensitive due to the impact that caused your concussion, so try not to stress yourself that much alright? Your condition will tell if you can be discharged tomorrow." He said before heading out towards the door.

"But you're free to roam around the hospital's premises. Just don't overdo yourself."

Dr. Mills was about to open the door when he suddenly stopped and turned to his patient.

"Oh, and I almost forgot. There were two men who wanted to see you, currently waiting in the lobby. They were the ones who rushed you here."

Mirai's curiosity shot up with Dr. Mills' statement. "Can you please let them in? I want to talk to them."

"Sure. I'll send them up here in a few."

The doctor finally excused himself out of the room. Mirai sunk on the huge white pillows supporting her back, heavily sighing.
