Let's see, a student's guide to learning in school hmm.

This has always came naturally to me so I never have had a problem learning in school. But I'll see what I can do.

I've noticed that some people aren't as passionate as I am and this really impacts how you learn. I know it's easier said than done. Everyone always says "Be passionate about learning" but it's hard to be passionate. I get it.

So don't focus on being passionate but use that focus to think of ways to link it to what you're passionate about.

If I learn this history lesson, I won't look stupid in front of my friends. My parents will be so proud of me for my grades and I can show up that jackass in the back of class who thinks he knows everything.

What I've seen in this generation and especially from watching my boyfriend in class, is that phones are a big issue of distraction.

Be there and be there now.

Not in your own little world. Just because the phone's off, doesn't mean that it's not turning off your thoughts on how many people just liked that new instagram post.

Sometime's it's even better if your teacher takes away your phone because you know that you don't have access to it. But at the same time, you get so angry at your teacher who's trying to help you learn, that you block out all the things that they tell you.

What I've learned is putting it away, like in your backpack is the best way to hide it from yourself. That way if you really do need it, then you have it, but at the same time, most people are to lazy to reach into their backpack to get it.

Contrary to teenagers beliefs, using your phone really does stop you from learning, it destroys your focus and distracts you from your full potential to actually interpret what the teacher is saying.

So really, get rid of all distractions.

What I don't get is that so many people hate school.

They disrespect the school and the people there.

Like "nerds" what is that name for? To make fun of all the people who are actually passionate about something and can appreciate what they have been given?

Why do people think that ruining the school will do anything to help their situation, the school will still be there no matter what they do to it. At least treat the place with respect.

Everyone always complains how their school is trash. But that's because they make it trash. If you talk to someone who's bitter about school, then they go into school with a bitter attitude. If you talk to someone who just wants to get school over with, then they'll always be rushed and bored. Talk to someone who wants to at least try to learn something and maybe make some friends and get involved in the school life.

Might as well, I mean you'll be stuck their for as long as it takes.

Another thing that is huge is procrastination.

But like, why is this even a problem?

Why put things off when you can just do it right then and do the stuff that you want to do after?

If you were to do homework immediately when you got home. I bet it would take you half the time that it takes you to do it usually. If you were to open the door, head up to your room, grab all your books, and picked up a pencil and started writing, your brain will flow with you and I swear you won't have to worry about any homework.

Another hint is to put the things that distract you far away from you. Some people including myself are so lazy that even if you put that phone a little further than arms reach, then you'd be too lazy to get it. Also put it face down and a place where you can't see all those notifications popping up. That way you won't be tempted to get your phone because it's too far away, and if you really do need to use it then you could still get it.

Something I do is write down a bunch of reminders for myself so I won't forget them. Because admit it, we're getting old. Write down your thoughts and ideas so they will forever be in your head when you need them.

Another thing-don't be afraid to raise your hand and participate in class. Sure you may be wrong but you're braver than half of the kids who were too scared to raise their hands. Don't worry about looking or feeling dumb. Everyone is learning and I'm sure that someone else was thinking the same thing as you.

Let ideas flow to you, don't force them upon you. Your brain is an endless labyrinth of ideas and all you need is one simple thought to trigger everything that you need.

Learning in school is what you make it.

How you choose to let this amazing opportunity change you-if it's for better or for worse.

I hope you choose the right answer and know that school isn't some hell that your parents dumped you in because they don't want you to eat all the food in the house when they're gone, but that they are handed this place, this world where you can take everything they teach you and use it in the real world, so you can create your own life and carve your own path.
