Everyone calls me the mom of the group and it may come off as bossy but it's not.
It's called leadership.
Leadership is so important and I know it's not easy so here's a Quick-TIP.
Quit Taking It Personal.
Everyone is so obsessed with what everyone thinks of them that they take every single little thing personally. This generation is so sensitive that everyone cries themselves to sleep and wants to commit suicide from things that other people do for them.
Why let other people control your life?
It's your life, not theirs.
Stop taking things personally and stop comparing yourself to others.
Who cares how many followers you have or how many people liked your picture! Everyone constantly compares themselves to others, subconsciously or consciously.
Stop yourself from doing that.
When you're walking around in school you have people walking with their heads up, thinking they're better than other people and people that slump their shoulders who think they are worse than others.
But that's not true, everyone is the same.
No one is better than someone else.
You don't have to prove other's wrong.
Prove yourself right.
Don't be afraid of commitment.
It's a reasonable thing to fear, you have more fear of getting hurt that you don't stop to think of what you could accomplish if you're committed.
When you're committed, you're invested, when you're invested, all your focus is in line and more things are accomplished.
Passion comes from purpose and purpose comes from you.
As a leader, you can't make excuses. How many hours are their in a day?
24.
How many hours do you waste on your phone in your bed watching Netflix?
You can't be a leader if you refuse to step out of your comfort zone. That's one of the hardest things to do but if you want to open yourself up to more people then they will open up to you. Make yourself vulnerable so they will be more comfortable with you.
If you have confidence in yourself, the world will have confidence in you.
Let's take a scenario, let's say you have your average high school varsity football team.
How many times has the marching band gone to the football games?
Everytime right?
Yeah.
So how many concerts has the football team gone too?
Probably none.
Be that person to break the routine and change history.
Nobody will remember you when the four years is over by how hot you are or how you dated the star quarterback. But they will remember you by the things that you did, the things that you changed.
Have the courage to stop and notice the people around you who need help.
Rarely will any person admit they need help because that's not what we humans do.
As humans we just have to be independent and always be right but the world hates us and our lives suck right?
But if you, as a leader, notice that someone is just screaming on the inside for help and you do something about it then you have just transformed someone else's life and your own.
Take the things that you love and give it to the people who desperately need it because when you give people what you have, you give people hope.
A man once told me a story about his high school prom.
Let's say this man's name is Tom.
Well Tom, when he was born his umbilical cord was wrapped around his neck so he gave an arm for his life and came out with only one arm.
Growing up, Tom was made fun of and teased for being different from everyone. Tom hated his nub. In middle school, he attempted to tryout for the basketball team but got held back from the coach who told him, "Basketball is a two armed sport, sorry."
But Tom's passion for basketball shone through as he started playing on a different team. Towering at 6'11 and he had a secret weapon, there were no rules against jabbing people with a nub. Now Tom plays pro-basketball and didn't let anything get in his way.
Anyways, that is Tom's backstory, and now to prom.
During Tom's high school prom, he had two dates. Apparently once you're on the varsity basketball team, you're automatically popular, it doesn't matter if you have one arm, or two.
Prom took place in a giant hall with two floors, the top floor was covered with tables and chairs for the dinner portion of the party, while the bottom floor was reserved for the dancing.
So lights, camera, action, and everyone is sitting on the top floor eating when a special ed girl prances onto the dance floor and starts to do the craziest dance moves that Tom has ever seen. Of course, the rest of the school notices and they do what you would expect from a bunch of teenagers. They look down at the girl and start laughing. Then they start pointing and laughing.
Tom looks at his class in disbelief and goes downstairs and joins the girl on the dance floor. He looks up at his classmates and does a firm shake of the head.
And that's all it took for everyone to shut up.
Only music reverberates through the room and Tom starts dancing with the girl, trying to keep up with her dance moves.
Tom saw something in the girl that he saw in him. The feeling of being different and humiliated and he changed that. He had accepted his arm and now wouldn't change it for the world.
The greatest gifts don't cost money, they cost courage.
If you can't empower yourself, then you can't empower others. So give yourself courage and the power to help others.
As a leader you must set an example for the people around you, and people don't listen to what you say, they listen to what you do.
And if not you, then who?
