Nightmare

I dashed as fast as I could, then stopped, and thought. I had a cousin who visited a few times a month, and lived in the ice kingdom. He always said they had amazing ways to heal, and it would be a good chance to see him. With my mind set, I changed course from the Kingdom of darkness to the kingdom of Ice, hoping to see Shard, the Glaceon. On the way I started to think, about how my father never let me leave, and how he never told me anything about my mother, or relatives until I met them, or... My train of thought was stopped by a huge rock that I managed to run headlong into, also somehow bashing my leg. "Ow, damn that hurt" I growl, rubbing my head with a paw, something harder than it sounds.

There was no way I was going to make it to the Ice kingdom in this state. I picked up Ash again and dropped him peacefully on a patch of grass, while I thought of what to do. The flow of blood was slowing down and he only seemed to be bleeding from his front leg, which had a large wound, something that would be difficult to patch up. I scanned the Bushes for anything useful, and saw a yellow round berry, something I'd read about during my countless years in the library. "Yes, a Sitrus Berry!" I said, knowing that they are very useful for healing. Books saved the day, reading prevailed. I thought of anything els that would work, but what else could to do? I grabbed a large leaf off a nearby plant, and fastened it over the wound, tying it around his leg. I then attempted to feed him the berry, which was harder than expected, especially in his unconscious state

I sat down, next to him, hoping he would be Okay, and he has pulled through worse. I thought about today, how my life spiralled out of control within one simple, short day. It started with me waking up to my best friend, and meeting my grumpy father. I then met my mate, as we set out to evolve. Stuff happened, things were said, and it didn't help that the princess and her family (although not sure where the Kirlia comes into that) had to interfere. "Now I'm alone, without a mate" I thought out loud "and a best friend who's dying" I whimper, as a singular tear rolls down my face slowly. "Why me... why does all these horrible things have to happen to me..." I can't hold it any longer and burst into tears.

"It wasn't your fault" a soft feminine voice said, causing me to instinctively hide my face. "You couldn't do anything to stop her."
I looked up to see the princess staring into my eyes, with a cute thoughtful expression. "I could have" I say, trying to hold back tears. "I tried to calm her down, i-I-instead it Freaked her out more." I said, letting a few tears out. I shook as I felt something soft rest on my back, and a ribbon came in to rest on my chest. If I'd tried to fight, I could have won, she would have been weak to me, but, I didn't... I just stood there and took everything...

"I'm sorry" she mumbled, attempting to be sympathetic

"I'm sorry" she mumbled, attempting to be sympathetic."What would you know, princess. You've probably had it easy, with loving parents" I snapped, growling. "First of all, why are you calling me princess?" She asked, clearly confused and slightly annoyed. "it's because I don't know your name, and, you are a princess." As I say that her eyes light up. "Oh of course, how silly of me" she said, moving around in front of me, so I don't have to look over my shoulder. "My name, young prince, is Shimmer" she whispered, before lightly kissing my cheek, causing my jaw to drop. "I, uh, mu, a, you, I, oh" I said, not knowing what to say. Shimmer giggled. "Come on, I think your friend's coming round."

Sure enough, he was rousing, slowly rising and blinking

"Wha- where am I..." Ash said, yawning, blinking some more to adjust to the darkness of the night, which had fallen a few minutes ago. "And what is she doing here." He asked, looking neither disgusted nor angry, more genuinely confused. "Oh, nothing" Shimmer said quickly, an awkward smile creeping across her face.

"Ah, was I interrupting something?" He asked, grinning, as I noticed my tongue was out as my jaw dropped, and quickly retracted it, blushing deep red. Ash grinned further, his smile disappeared when Shimmer slapped him with a ribbon. "Ow, What was that for?" He laughed, before seeing our expressions. "I probably deserved that. I'll head home now, see you Nightmare, princess Shimmer" he said, limping around to leave. "Do you need some help there?" I asked home, and he simply grunted, and said "I'll be fine, don't worry, Oh and don't worry about Shimmer, I won't say anything to your father."
"I better leave too" Shimmer said, smiling. "See you soon, Nightmare."
"Goodbye, Princess" I said, receiving a smirk. "Goodbye"
