This was it. The beginning of a new life, one free from abuse, pain and anxiety. Or at least that's what I hope, we actually have to reach it first, and who knows what could happen between now and then. "I hope you know where we're going, I've never been let out of the castle before, let alone all throughout the glade" I asked.
Her knowledge was surprisingly vast for a princess, something rarely seen in Pokémon at all, let alone someone of royal blood. I would have expected her to have better uses of her time.
"Don't worry" she reassured. "I spent most of my time in the library, researching my heritage... and other random trivia" she grinned.
"Of course, I should have known" I say, grinning. "Your aura seemed to reflect a similar intellect to my own, even more" I said, before stopping.
Aura? I can read those, and understand them? I didn't know I could read auras, let alone understand them. They seemed so alien, and yet here I am, perfectly reading and understanding her aura. I can't describe how weird it is, it feels like it's something I've always been able to do, but I haven't.
Granted, my understanding and reach was weak, I could only read auras from a few meters from the target, but I could do it, I have a new ability!"What?" Shimmer asked smiling, snapping me back to reality. "What are you grinning for?" She asked again, letting out a small laugh, making me laugh a bit too.
"Nothing, princess... just, I haven't read an aura correctly before. I spent most of my time reading. That's all I could do, I couldn't leave, didn't have a father to talk to, play with..." I trailed off, my face dropping a bit. "Nevermind, it's all in the past now. I have a new future ahead of me, a new start. A chance to do some good." I had barely finished before she leaned over and kissed me, and immediately all thoughts left my head. "I... I... um... ba..."
Yeah... I have NO idea whatsoever of the turn of events that led up to this, but hey, I'm not objecting.
"What... was that... for princess?" I asked, still shaken from that unexpected but... enjoyable, experience. She let out a small chuckle, before saying "Come on, my prince, we've got to get there first"We walked on for a minute or two in complete silence, the quiet suffocating as we walked on awkwardly , before I thought of something fun.
"Come on Princess!" I yelled, dashing ahead in the general direction of the kingdom, putting all my strength into running. I almost fell over when I saw Shimmer running up beside me, matching my speed, although struggling.
"Wow... your... fa... fast..." she said, coughing, looking as though she would collapse any second.
I slowed down for her, just so she didn't injure herself, only for her to step on one of her ribbons and trip, rolling.
By the time she came to a stop, she was covered in leaves and dirt, looking more like a Leafeon than a Sylveon.
"Ow..." she said, grimacing, then looking at herself.
"Oh my goodness what is my mother going to think?" She exclaimed, flicking off a few leaves.
I though for a minute, remembering something from our elevated position atop the alter hill. "Isn't there a lake around here somewhere? You seem to know the lay of the land" I asked remembering the orientation of what I saw.
"Um... yes I think there is, over to there" she said, getting up and moving towards the Ice kingdom{Shimmer}
We walked for about a minute before we came to the lake in question, looking around to make sure we were alone.
"After you" Nightmare said, stepping back, glancing at the water.
"Don't mind if I do" I laughed, readying myself, before diving in headfirst. The cold water stung on my skin, rendering my fur useless, but that's what I get for diving during the night. I stuck my head up out of the lake only for Nightmare to dive in next to me, splashing me with the icy water.
"Yikes... i... it...it's cold..." I stuttered, shivering. "Is it? I guess it's a little cold, but then again I'm used to this." I started to swim towards the edge of the lake, as my whole body was shaking and the cold stung, but at least I was cleaner.
"Here, let me help" Nightmare said, swimming in front of me. "Grab on." He whispered softly
I listened, wrapping my ribbons around his chest, as he pulled me along at twice the speed of my shivering paddle. It didn't take long for him to take me to land, and I soon collapsed on the ground.
"I'll be back in a minute, I want a quick little swim" he chuckled, before jumping back in one last time. As he was climbing out again, an ear piercing shriek rang out, making us jump.
"What was that?" Nightmare mumbled to himself, concerned, but somehow not afraid. I was about to get up, feeling a bit better, but still cold, before I felt a familiar prescience.
"Are you okay, Shimmer?" Violet asked, stepping out from behind a few bushes, brushing off her arms. "Tell me you heard that?" I asked, as calm as I could, but I don't think she was convinced.
"Who are you talkin to, princess?" Nightmare asked, still looking towards the direction of the scream. "Me" Violet said, strutting over, staring Nightmare down with a cold glare, causing him to step back.Another scream rang out, more muffled than the last, making Violet cringe. "What is that..?"
"I don't know, but we should find out, they could be in trouble" Nightmare mumbles, and at that, he began running
