Adalyn paced back and forth on the boat waiting for the boys. Everything is gonna be ok. They will all make it out. She thought to herself as she checked the cliff every few seconds. Those boys are everything to her. If anything were to happen to either of them, it would absolutely destroy her. The distant sound of gunfire filled her ears, pulling her out of her thoughts, and caused her eyes to go wide. No no no no. She feels as if her heart is about to burst. Please come home alive. She prayed as she walked to the edge of the boat, her eyes glued to the top of that cliff. After a few minutes, she saw movement in the trees. She wrings her hands as tears fill her eyes. Before she knew it, two bodies hit the water. Only two. One head broke through the surface, and thank God it was Nate. Her heart calmed down the tiniest bit. But the second head that came up, was not the one she wanted to see.
Nate tried to climb into the boat and Adalyn gave him her hand. As soon as he hit the deck, he stayed down.
"Nate? Where's Sam?" Adalyn demanded. All of a sudden, Nate disappeared and everything went quiet. She stood up and looked around, her eyebrows knit together.
With a flash, someone appeared before her. Adalyn's eyes filled with tears and sank down to the deck. A bloody Sam Drake stood right in front of her.
"You could have prevented this," His voice echoed through her bones. "If you would have come with us instead of Rafe, We all would have made it out alive,"
"I would trade my life for yours in a second!" Adalyn barked, "And you know that," her voice broke.
"My death is on your hands, Adalyn," Sam stated. "Nothing will ever change that," he slowly walked toward Adalyn and knelt down to her level, "And you have to live with it for the rest of your miserable life," he spat.
"I am so sorry, Sam..." Adalyn sobbed. "So so sorry."
"It's too late for that," Sam began, before slowly standing back up. "And now it's time you pay,"
"What...?" Adalyn questioned before looking up at Sam. Her eyes widened as a gun fired.
Adalyn sat up, gasping loudly placing her hand on her chest as she hyperventilated. Cold sweat coated her skin, causing hair to stick to her face and neck. She looked around frantically, sighing in relief. Tears filled her eyes as she pulled her legs towards her chest, running her fingers through her hair. She sobbed softly before looking at the alarm clock on the nightstand to the left of the bed. The neon numbers read, 3:30 AM. Adalyn let out a shaky breath and plopped back down on her back and ran her hands down her face. Sleep is not finding her again tonight.
The sun peeked over the horizon, painting the sky in orange and pink. Adalyn left the house. It was just too much. It took some convincing but Elena let her leave under some conditions. That she stayed somewhere nearby and let her pay for the room.
Adalyn unlocked her room and walked in. It's a pretty nice building. Good security, and a beautiful view of the river. Elena really outdid herself. She sat herself down on the bed and picked up the phone to order room service.
I might as well treat myself. Adalyn thought. After ordering, she put the phone down and looked around her room. Her eyes stopped on her duffle bag on the little kitchen table. She let out a deep sigh before she stood up and slowly walked across the room. Her fingers found the zipper and she slid the little tab to the right. As she rummaged through the small bag, the feeling of denim brushed her fingertips. She slowly pulled out Sam's old jacket, smiling sadly. She ran her thumbs over the sherpa collar before bringing it up to her nose and breathing in deeply. Causing a smile to form on her face.
Somehow, after 15 years, it still smelled like him. A mix of cigarettes and his favorite cologne. Every now and then Adalyn pulled it out and wore it around her house. She didn't quite know why she packed it. It was one of the only things of his that she asked Nate to let her keep. She wrapped it around her shoulders and lay back on the bed. She smiled and chuckled softly as memories began to flow through her mind. She would steal this jacket from him all the time. There were times when she would 'forget her jacket' just so he would offer his and she could wear it home.

The whirring of jet engines filled Adalyn's ears as she gazed at the world thousands of feet below her. Rafe may be a rich asshole but he sure knew how to travel in style. Champagne and gourmet food brought right to your seat, no strangers and their screaming babies. She took a quick glance over at Sam, who was fast asleep, and smiled slightly. He had always been able to sleep with ease no matter where they went. Nathan and Rafe sat across the aisle discussing a couple little things to take care of once they landed. Panama was still hours away.
Adalyn let out a long sigh, and leaned back in her seat. She looked down at her journal splayed on the table in front of her. She picked up her pen, turned to a blank page and began to doodle to entertain herself for a little bit. A couple of minutes later she heard Sam stir next to her. "Good morning sleepy head." Adalyn greeted Sam with a smile looking over at him.
Sam leaned over against the table and looked over at Adalyn. "What are you working on there?" He questioned with a yawn nodding toward the journal.
"Nothing. Just trying to pass some time." She replied before sliding the book over to him.
Sam scans over the page full of little doodles. There were a couple of compass roses, little palm trees on a tiny island, but there was one that caught his eye. "You know, this one would make a nice tattoo." He stated as he pointed at the outline of four birds in flight.
"You think so?" Adalyn chuckled, not sure if he was joking or not.
"Hell yeah. It kind of represents us in a way." Sam stated. Adalyn furrowed her eyebrows and tilted her head. "Think about it. As children we always felt as if we were stuck in a cage. And all we wanted was the freedom to do whatever we want. To be free." Sam said as he slides the notebook across the table.
"I'll tell you what," Adalyn began as she grabbed the journal, carefully tearing the drawing off the page. "As soon as we are done in Panama, you and I will go get this tattoo together." Adalyn folded the paper a couple of times before placing it between her pointer and middle finger, offering it to Sam.
"You're on." Sam replied as he took the paper from her hand and placed it in his pocket.

FanfictionThis is the story of Adalyn Keller and Sam Drake. Betrayal, love, adventure. The search for Henry Avery's treasure has never been more interesting. I do not own any of these characters but my own. I don't own any of the lines that are from the game.
