There hadn't been word from Nate about whether or not he made it to the power room or not. Adalyn's stomach began to do flops, as she fiddled with her hands, assuming the worst. Sully definitely noticed and he looked over at her with concern.
"What's wrong kid?" he asked. She looked up at him and sighed.
"What if he got caught? what if he fell?" Her heart was racing and she felt as if the room was spinning. She lost one Drake brother once. She wasn't willing to lose another.
"Don't worry Adalyn," Sam whispered reassuringly through the com "It takes a lot to kill a Drake." She smiled slightly to herself. After a while the bidding began on the cross and, of course, Rafe had the highest bid right out of the gate. Finally they heard Nate come in through the mic in their ears.
"God damn it, kid where the hell've you been?" Sully whispered with frustration.
"I made it. Had a few close calls, but--" Nate began but Adalyn cut him off.
"Yeah, well if you're gonna cut the power, now would be a good time." I whisper urgently
"All right, well, i'm gonna need a minute before I can reach the panel." Nate said full of thought. Adalyn sighed in annoyance.
"We don't have a minute, Rafe's about to walk out of here with our cross." Adalyn hissed.
"Wait, what?" Nate exclaimed in surprise "Rafe? Rafe is here?"
"Yes, Rafe is here. And as of right now, he has the highest bid." Sam whispered.
Adalyn looked around for Sam and he was standing in the front of the room putting down his plate of horderves.
"Well, outbid him," Nate said quickly.
"With what? I don't have that kind of scratch" Sully said, covering his mouth with his cigar.
Adalyn looked up at her old friend and nudged his arm. "Sully, we're stealing it, remember?" I whispered.
"What if he calls my bluff?" He asked, looking down at Adalyn with slight worry.
Nate sighed. "He won't." Nate reassured Sully. He knew Rafe better than anyone. Adalyn trusted his plan. The Auctioneer then spoke.
"We have ninety thousand, do I hear any more bids?"
"Guys, if I don't get this cross, I am as good as dead." Sam spoke urgently. He was trying to sound as calm as possible but Adalyn could always see his true feelings.
"Yeah, well I end up with the highest bid, we're all dead." Sully did have a good point. But they really needed that cross. No matter the cost.
"Sully, I need you to buy me more time." Nate said. "Trust me."
"Since there are no other bids-" the auctioneer said. Adalyn looked up at Sully, his expression full of thought. "Going once-"
Come on Sully.
"Going twice-"
Sully sighed and shook his head. "Screw it." he raised his paddle and Adalyn let out a sigh of relief. Thank God.
"Bene! We have one hundred thousand euros in the room. Thank you." The auctioneer said.
Adalyn looked over at Rafe and he was looking over at the two of them with annoyance. "Do we have any other bids?" Rafe slowly raised his paddle giving Adalyn a warning glare. She stared right back at him. Her chin raised, and shoulders back. He may be scary but there was no way she was letting this douchebag get away with that cross. "We now have one hundred and ten thousand euros in the room." That's a lot of money.

FanfictionThis is the story of Adalyn Keller and Sam Drake. Betrayal, love, adventure. The search for Henry Avery's treasure has never been more interesting. I do not own any of these characters but my own. I don't own any of the lines that are from the game.
