As soon as they teleported to the school Lauren got her pen out and magically texted everyone to meet them there.
Knight immediately took a dejected looking Travis away to his lab for more testing, but not before promisingly to contact Conte their spellcraft teacher. Lauren was confident that he had all the ingredients she would need at least she hoped so, with the menagerie closed there couldn't be very many places left to shop for eye of newt and wing of bat. He thought comically.
That left Kyle twiddling his thumbs so he decided to see if he could hammer out the history paper after all and wouldn't you know it, having written one already and also having the school library at his fingertips really helped a lot.
In the end it wasn't as good as the first, but it would do in a pinch as they say. He left on Miss Long's desk once it was done and went in search of the gang. The first placed he tried was their homeroom but nope no one was in and then he crossed the barrier and headed straight for the alchemy lab, but that was surprisingly empty as well. Clio was in the library when he went looking for them there, but she told him they had all been dragged away by le Fay.
And just when he was beginning to worry that they'd left without him he heard them coming down the corridor.
He rushed to greet them but rounded the corner so fast he crashed into an excited Lauren just as she was saying, "I can't believe she just gave us one of her most prized possessions."
She nearly flew right off her feet with the force of the blow but Zach as usual was there to save the day and he cupped her lower back to keep her from falling backward on her ass. Both parties let out a shocked oomph.
When he could finally get a breath into his collapsed lungs he was elated to see his entire crew was standing behind her trying to get a better look at what she was holding. It looked like a solid gold sculpture of an eye. Large enough to hold easily in your hand yet small enough to wear it on a necklace without looking like you were trying to imitate Lil Wayne.
His mouth took on a shocked 'O' as she held it up to her eye. The gold started to emit a slight glow and her pupil expanded before it began to glow gold too. It wasn't an ornament or even a pendant it was a looking glass.
She held it up to Kyle with a look of glee on her face, and said, "You are not going to believe this Le Fay gave us the eye of Horus. It will lead us straight to Isis' Ankh.
She held out a duffle bag too and said, "And Conte had all the ingredients."
"Yeah we were just coming to get you. We're ready to go whenever you are le Fay's opening a port door in the gym as we speak." Zach informed him.
"For real, "Kyle couldn't keep an excited grin from spreading across his face, but when he looked around the group to find Travis to assure him that everything was going to be all right and found he was missing, he immediately felt a sense of foreboding.
"Where's Trav?" he asked suspiciously.
The looks that they gave each other spoke volumes something was wrong and they were debating whether to tell him.
Kyle ground out indelicately, "Where is he?"
Zach stepped forward then, making his trepidation double, and calmly said, "he's laying down in Tuma's office," Kyle spun on his heel and marched off without even saying a word.
The guys followed him, but kept their distance, or maybe they just couldn't keep up, because he was practically running, who could tell.
He stormed into the office startling everyone inside. Tuma and Knight were standing off to the side talking in hushed tones. While Travis lay on their principal's sofa with a poultice on his face.
