Chapter Two: Prepare for the worst
[Harry’s POV]
I woke up in the morning and lifted my head off of my pillow to see my beautiful girlfriend lying in my arms as I smiled to myself happily. And it was then that I remembered exactly what I’d told her last night. I frowned to myself and let my head flop back down onto the pillow. My head started to ache at the thought of leaving for three weeks. I could barely hold it together when I told her I was leaving, how am I supposed to act happy while on tour in front of thousands of diehard fans? That’s right; I’m not going to be able to! But I was going to have to find the strength from somewhere; I couldn’t let the boys down. Today was Saturday and I only had two days until I left for America. I wish I had of told her sooner, maybe it would of been better to give her some time to think about it. But what was done was done and it was time that I start thinking about the future and not the past. I was kind of wishing that I would leave already so I didn’t have to see her hurting over the next two days before I left. This is so unfair! I thought to myself as I gently removed my arms from around her and got out of bed. I managed to be quiet enough that she still lay there sound asleep. I peered around the room to find Louis bed empty and sheets, pillows, clothes and even Louis doona Strawn all across the room. Looks like someone had fun last night I laughed to myself. I grabbed my clothes and towel and went for a shower. I came out to find Zoe sitting on her bed staring blankly around the room.
“Morning baby” I said as I made my way over to her bed. She didn’t respond and continued to sit there with a blank face and as soon as I was close enough she stood up and wrapped her arms around me. I wrapped my hands around her waist and hugged her tight. I knew that leaving wasn’t my fault but I felt so bad. I didn’t want to let her go; we hugged for a few minutes until she finally pulled out of the hug and whispered “Good morning.” But there was something missing. She wasn’t smiling that adorable smile, and I could definitely tell that she wasn’t happy. Gosh Harry, why are you stupid! I thought to myself. There was nothing I could do to make this situation go away so instead I just apologised.
“I’m so sorry-“But before I could even finish she interrupted.
“Sorry? For what Harry… You’ve done nothing wrong!” She said sounding confused as to why I would apologise. I wrapped my hands around her waist and leaned in towards her, my lips crashed over hers as I kissed her passionately and I could feel her half smiling.
“Let’s just spend all of the time together that we can before you leave” she said as she tried her best to be happy and I grabbed her hand and we walked out of the room.
“That’s all I want!” I replied as we made our way out of the bedroom and to the dining table where everyone was having breakfast. We grabbed a plate each and helped ourselves to the bacon and eggs that the others had made and joined them at the table. The boys were talking about the tour and talking about how excited they were. And I could tell that their girlfriends felt uncomfortable talking about the tour especially Rachael because she was a little insecure and didn’t trust Liam all that much. I looked over and saw Zoe frown but as she caught me looking at her, she smiled back at me. She knows how much I hate to see her upset, it makes me feel terrible to know that the girl I love is sad and I can’t do anything about it. I sighed and continued to eat my breakfast, I really didn’t want to be involved in the conversation and the boys already knew how upset I was about leaving her behind so they never brought me into any conversations involving the tour. Caitlin didn’t look too upset, but I was thinking that she was happy for a different reason; last night? And Emily had an expression across her face as if someone or something important to her had just died. We finished breakfast and decided that we would spend the day bowling. Unfortunately it was still raining, so we had to pick something to do that was indoors. Everyone went to get ready and those who were already ready to go waited downstairs watching TV. Maybe a few games of bowling could lift everyone’s drowned spirits. Well I knew one thing; I sure hoped it would!
[Zoe’s POV]
As I was getting ready for bowling something suddenly hit me. Oh no, oh HELL NO! I thought to myself. Trying to fight the tears I remembered that in two weeks it would be Harry’s Birthday! I would miss his 18th Birthday! Wow, I was really quite the girlfriend! Guilt and hurt washed over me, could this get any worse, really? What was I going to do? I was sure that Harry realised I would miss his birthday; well what can I say? He was sure good at hiding things. As soon as I was finished getting ready I made my way downstairs to join everyone else. Once we were all ready to go we locked up the house and got picked up in the 11 seater van that took the boys to their tours, events and where ever else they needed to go. Harry, Zayn and I sat down the very back of the van in a three seater, Caitlin and Emily sat together in a two seater just in front of us, Louis and Liam sat together in another two seater and Rachael and Niall sat together down the front of the mini bus. Everyone started their own conversations except for Zayn who decided he would make some calls to his friends and family. I picked up Harry’s hand and our fingers intertwined, when I said I wanted to spend as much time as I could with him before he left I meant it!
“Why didn’t you tell me?” I asked him sounding hurt.
“Tell you what love?” He replied clueless.
“About your birthday! I’m going to miss your birthday Harry!” I said sounding even more upset now.
“Oh, well I didn’t think it would really matter” He said trying to lie to me, but it didn’t work.
“How could it not matter Harry? And not to mention it’s your eighteenth...” I trailed off making sure that I had said all I wanted to before he was even given the chance to be able to cut me off.
“I’m sorry I didn’t tell you. It’s just, I knew how hard it was going to be for you to accept the fact that I am leaving to America in the first place and I didn’t want to put you through any more pain, you know I hate seeing you hurt.” He frowned back, I hugged him and he put his arm around me as I rested my head on his shoulder.
“I hate this” I whispered.
“Me too” He frowned again agreeing with me.
We eventually arrived at the bowling centre and played two games of bowling. Liam won the first game and Caitlin won the second. We all had great fun and everyone ended up in a happy mood, including me even though I was still upset about Harry’s birthday. We were about to leave and go home when Louis came rushing inside, he was going to go and wait in the car except he had been chased inside by fans. There were about a hundred fans waiting outside to see the boys, if not more. They were all screaming their names and ‘One Direction!’ continuously. Everyone broke out into laughter as we saw Louis come running and screaming towards us. Louis was always the practical joker of the group and he knew how to make everyone laugh!
“Calm down Louis!” Liam shouted over top of his screaming. When Louis was close enough he jumped onto Liam tackling him to the ground. It was very funny to see and everyone from the public who were inside the bowling centre was staring at them like, ‘how awkward are they gay?’ but we all just kept on laughing. Luckily the security was always nearby in case we needed them. We were lead out of the bowling centre by security. Harry grabbed my hand, Niall put his arm around Emily’s waist, Louis piggy backed Caitlin, Rachael held hands with Liam, and Zayn walked behind us all and behind Zayn was another security guard. The fans were going crazy trying to grab on to any of the boys or their clothing. It was funny but at the same time a little scary. All you could hear was screaming and cheering coming from teenage girls.
“Gidee Up!” Caitlin said to Louis who was running with her on his back. Finally we made it to the car, got inside and shut the door. It was hard to drive out of the place because the fans had made their way over to the car and were surrounding it. I was afraid someone was going to get run over, but I couldn’t stop laughing. There were people tapping and knocking on the windows, I’m pretty sure we even saw one girl faint. It was quite a show, and it was interesting for us girlfriends of the boys to experience some of the fame that they seem to get every day! We made it home at about 1pm. I was happy to say that we’d all had a pretty good day, but one thing I wasn’t happy about was the fact that every minute of the day, the day he left kept on getting closer.
