Chapter Twenty Three: Need a friend

[Zoe’s POV]

What the fuck. What the actual fuck? Was what played over and over again in my mind. I somehow managed to drag myself into the car and drive to my best friend’s house.  She told me to stay the night and comforted me on the lounge while I told her about everything that had just happened.

“Is there something wrong with me?” I asked Tilly with a slight frown on my face as I rested my head on her shoulder. My eyes were red and swollen and I looked like a disaster.

“Stop Zoe, you’re being ridiculous. There’s nothing wrong with you, except maybe one thing… you’re simply too amazing!” She laughed putting in effort to try and cheer me up.

“No but seriously!” I whined. “Why do I always push away the ones who are closet? He said he didn’t love me anymore, so I must have done something wrong!” I said as my voice broke and I tried to hide my face.

“Well, things change and people change, it’s just something we have to accept…” She trailed off as

I let out a sigh, “I just don’t understand, things were so perfect and then almost out of nowhere this bullshit happened!” I buried my face into her shoulder and began to cry some more.  She hugged me in attempt to make me feel better, but if anything all it did was make me want to cry even more. We stayed like this for a few minutes until I broke the silence between us.

“I think I might head off to bed now, it’s been a long day and I think I just need some sleep” I said hoping that if I did eventually get to sleep I wouldn’t wake up.

“Sure thing, your room is upstairs on the right. If you need anything just come and wake me up. If not I’ll see you in the morning babe, goodnight!” She smiled as at me as I disappeared up the stairs of her apartment. I was so glad I had met Tilly; she was such an amazing best friend to me, and someone who I knew I could always count on.

I awoke in the morning with a huge headache. Crying all day yesterday really wasn’t the best idea, not that I could help it. I sat up and took a deep breath, it was that time of the morning to mask myself with makeup and cover the scars that hurt like a bitch. I let out a sigh, it hadn’t even been 24 hours and I was already missing my boyfriend. Well, ex-boyfriend. Shit, the sound of that really messed with my head. Ex-boyfriend, now that was just another thing that I had to get used to. I hopped out of bed and had a shower which made me feel a whole lot better; however nothing could take away the pain of a broken heart. I made my way downstairs to find Tilly had made me some breakfast before she went to work. What an awesome best friend! I caught myself laugh for the first time in what felt like forever. Its people like her that make me feel like when things get tough, I have enough strength to push through it all. I sat down and ate breakfast in a silent boring room. And before deciding what I was going to do today I decided to call Tilly. I dialled her number and let the phone ring, shortly a familiar voice answered.

“Hey BABE!” she shouted excitedly through the phone.

“Hey love, thank you for the breakfast, very considerate.” I laughed in reply.

“Aw, I know. Aren’t I just the perfect best friend?” She giggled back.

“You are!” I said happily in response.

“So what are your plans for today babe?” She asked me curiously.

“Well, I have to find a place to stay, I need to get some clothes and some of my things from Lou and…” I froze, why couldn’t I say his name? “From…His place” I choked on my words a little.
