I was home alone when my phone vibrated, it was a text from my now ex boyfriend Oliver

you are a waste of space, I wish you would crawl in a hole and die.

After I read that I walked in the bathroom after I grabbed my razor blade out of my dresser, I placed the cold metal against my wrist and cut slowly and soon seen the dark red color run down my hand and drop onto the floor, that was when I seen my mother walking in and made me walk out to the car then drove to a nearby mental asylum and left me there. Three years passed and I was still stuck in this shit hole, I tried to tell myself that everything was going to be okay and that I didn't need anyone, I slowly begun learning to stop trusting people, I laid in bed trying to get a good night's sleep but that was hard to do because I shared a room with a guy named Gage, he was planning an escape, it was a good idea but I knew he would get caught but wished him luck if he didn't.

Gage: hey I finally got through, come with me Raven. I know you want out of here just as much as I want out too.

Raven: what if they find us and bring us back here? We can't keep planning a great escape Gage, give up already...

Gage: fine! You can stay here but I'm leaving, I can't stand it here a minute longer. Goodbye forever Raven...

I knew he was right but the place was getting shut down then I would be free to do as I pleased and I sure as hell would never go back to my mother's house not after she left me here and forgot about me, she never visited me and I never called her.

The place finally shut down and I had nowhere to go except living among the homeless and what I seen was sad. That was until I got a second chance at getting the help I never wanted, it came in the form of a tall dark haired guy while I was almost raped by a horny old goat looking for a piece of young ass so he could brag about it later to the few friends he may have. I must have fainted while the guy tried to rape me because when I woke up I was laying in a hospital bed and the dark haired guy was sitting next to the bed while he was on his phone.

Raven: how did I get here and who are you?

???: my name is Zak and I brought you here after I seen you almost getting raped by some guy in the alley way.

Raven: well you shouldn't have done that, I had the situation under control.

Zak: says the girl who fainted...

Raven: and I suppose that makes you some kind of hero just because you rescued a nobody like me? You look like you have better things to do.

Zak: I'm no hero but I believe a thanks would be the right thing to do now.

Raven: I didn't need your help...why are you even still here? You look like you should be somewhere else anyways Zackary.

Zak: yeah well I do but they can wait because I lied and told the doctor you were my friend's little sister and that I was watching you while he was out of town, so you're coming with me when you leave here. What is your name?

Raven: why does that matter?

Zak: you asked for my name, so are you going to tell me your name?

Raven: my name is Raven and thank you for helping me out, I rea---

I seen my mother walk in and sit down on the bed, she glared at Zak before she looked at me with concern.

Mom: I heard that you was here and I've come to take you back home

Raven: I'm not going anywhere with you.

Mom: yes you are.

Raven: you're out of your mind if you think I will ever live with you again. You dumped me at a mental asylum and forget about me for three years, now you come here wanting me to just go with you? Fuck you...I hate you!

I looked at her as a single tear rolled down my cheek and the next thing I knew was feeling a sting on my face from her slapping me, Zak made her leave before anything else happened. I hate that she showed up and acted like nothing happened. I lost all train of thought when I seen the doctor walked in the room with my discharge papers, I didn't know what I would do from now, I didn't have a home and I didn't want to live on the streets again, maybe my ex boyfriend was right about me being a waste of space...nobody would want me around them for more than a day before they dumped at some hell hole and forget that I had even existed.

Zak: is there somewhere that you want to go Raven? I don't want you living in the streets not after what happened.

Raven: I don't have anywhere to go, you can just drop me off wherever you want.

Zak: okay well I'm not doing that so I hope you like dogs.
