Original Poem
I know
I know what it feels like,
To feel your heart shatter into millions of tiny pieces.
I know what it looks like:
The face of being hurt until the breaking point and finally being pushed over the edge.
I know what it sounds like...
The sound of gasping for air when you're crying and it hurts too much to breathe.
I know the taste:
The burning taste of being lied to over and over and over again...
And I most definitely know the pain:
The pain of trying to stay calm when all you can think about is what's wrong,
The pain of having to hold your breath to keep from crying,
The pain of "Yes, I'm fine," when in reality I'm dying.
It's not like I want to know,
I've just experienced it one too many times.
The pain, the tears, the inability to function.
I know.
