15/2/12

Being sick, unfortunately, does not give me a get-out-of-jail-free-card. After I had finished some school work that Grandma had forced me to do, she drove me to the grocery store and told me to pick out my favorite sweet. Of course, I picked ice cream, because who doesn't like ice cream? And then we drove in silence for a verrrryyyyy long time. And we arrived at the therapy class. She shoved me out of the car and drove away. So I walked inside, ice cream in hand, and I spoke away. I didn't let anything stop me this time. I let it out. And now everyone knows, not that anyone didn't know before.

Ignoring the wails of the pirates and the scampering of feet down the hallway by the card soldiers, Conner coughed much too loudly. He was incredibly nervous that Lloyd would wake up very soon.

"I do believe we should do something about -er-Lloyd. He seems...passed out. This is a good opportunity," He said.

Alex rolled her eyes and sighed. She wasn't trying to be rude, but sometimes she didn't have much time for Conner's foolishness.

"Obviously, Conner," she reached over to Bree and snatched the sword from her hand, receiving a "hey!" from Bree in return. "Sorry, but I have to do this, and I need a sword to do it."

Conner's eyes widened as he watched Alex slowly move towards Lloyd, her eyes darting towards the Queen of Hearts, who was dramatically playing dead on the ground. "What are you doing, Alex?" He shrieked.

"Are you doing what I think you're doing?" Arthur cried.

Bree gasped. "Don't do it, Alex! We can solve this war with words!"

Everyone turned to stare at her.

"What?" Bree shrugged. "I believe in peace, not violence."

The FAT, in fact, was another story. They were encouraging Alex to do what they were doing. "Lloyd had had this plan brewing for years in advance, Alex! If you let him go, he will just do more destruction!" Emerelda called.

"Shut up!" Alex yelled, which didn't help their situation. "We need to be quiet, or Lloyd might wake up! And for once, I don't need anyone's opinion. I am not doing this for the Fairytale World, Emerelda. I am not doing this for the Otherworld. I'm doing this for me."

"Diva," Conner muttered. "You have to have all the attention for yourself, don't you..."

Alex glared at her brother. "What was that?" she snapped. "Did you have an opinion you would like to share?"

Although she would never admit it, Alex believed she sounded a lot like one of her old teachers' when she had said that. She flushed and rubbed the back of her neck. "Conner?" she said, a little more softly.

Conner blushed, embarrassed. "Nothing," he said quickly.

He and his friends advanced behind Alex, their weapons in hand. If they were going to do this, they were going to do this right.

Bree, instead of using her sword-which had been stolen by Alex, was using her long lock of the blonde ponytail as a weapon. Instead of chuckling, Conner appreciated her effort.

Alex hesitated in front of Lloyd. Her sword was drawn out before her, and her hand trembled. Sighing, she took a deep breath and yelled, "In the Red Queen's words, OFF WITH YOUR HEAD!"  and slammed her sword down onto Lloyd's neck.

Surprised, everybody watched in silence. Even the Queen of Hearts stopped flailing around on the ground and looked up in shock. "Did she just-?"

But to everybody's discomfort, instead of blood oozing out of Lloyd's neck, nothing seemed to happen except for a small crunching sound.

A loud cackle erupted before them. Everybody looked up to the grand window and saw the real Lloyd, perched on the edge of the window with a wicked smile on his face.

"You really thought I would let you kill me that easily, my dear niece and nephew?" Lloyd smirked and jumped off the deadly height. "I can't believe you thought that that was me!"

Everyone gasped.

Lloyd landed on his feet, bending down and jumping back up for a more dramatic response. He was almost like a cat, never falling from such a high distance that they would not land on their feet. "You thought that you could defeat me? That you could RUIN my plan, after all these years? No. You can't. And for even trying-"

Alex blasted her hand in front of her, creating a loud BOOM, but when the smoke disappeared, nothing had happened. Alex's spirits had gone into the magic inside her, but when she needed them the most...

"What?!" she cried, shocked and angry at herself. She touched her hand and didn't feel that familiar burst of electricity. "No!" she thrust her hand out before her again.

Everybody fell to the ground, afraid that the explosion would rattle all of Wonderland.

Alex did it again. And then again. And again.

"Alex!" Conner shouted, hesitantly retreating to the back wall. He didn't like to say he was afraid of her, but he was. Conner had never seen this side of his sister before. "Stop that! You're going to hurt us all!"

Tears blinded Alex's vision. She was so angry at herself. She felt so defeated. Alex elbowed the wind-almost literally- and a ginormous crackling sounded.

When all the smoke dissipated, even the Masked Man himself was shocked. "What the-" before he could say much more, Captain Hook jumped down from an even higher ledge he had climbed up to.

Reaching into his pocket, Captain Hook grabbed two potions. One was green, and one was red. Alex saw what he was doing and tried to block his way towards her and her friends, but Captain Hook knew her magic had mysteriously stopped working.

He wove through the crowd of people and smoke and threw two books on the floor, splattered the potions on the book, and the pirates came out of nowhere.

It had happened so quickly, Alex didn't have time to see what the books were. She threw her hands out before her, and the FAT and the rest of her friends did the same, copying her expression.

The pirates swiftly made their way towards Alex and her friends, even the Queen of Hearts and the Masked Man, circled them, and cornered them into a small spot in the throne room.

Captain Hook detached his sword from his side and swung it in the Masked Man's direction, almost knocking Lloyd over. He pushed the sword to Lloyd's neck and scowled. "Did you truly think I was stupid enough to follow you, Lloyd?" He growled. "Did you think you control me?"

Lloyd tried to speak, but Captain Hook stepped forwards, pressing his sword tighter against Lloyd's neck. "Do not speak to me, Masked Man. I am no longer in your control. I do not work for you. I will rule the world, and you will be my slaves."

Alex, Conner, Arthur, and Bree glanced at each other, almost choking with fear. How had - such a turn of events - happened?

Lloyd struggled against Captain Hook's restraints, but the pirate-held on tight.

"Now, pirates!" Captain Hook instructed. "Throw them in!"

Just as Alex felt herself falling through the year, she saw the flash of golden titles across her eyes.

The Sherwood Forest.

Camelot.
