*Safiya*

Slowly opening my heavy eyelids, I saw pure, white nothingness in my range of vision. Desperately trying to figure out where I was, a cold, wet substance tickled at my feet. Then, all of a sudden, I felt my weight shift beneath me, and realized that I was falling. Falling, falling down into nothing. The white screen around me had vanished, and was replaced with a never ending darkness instead. I didn't scream, or even manage a small whimper to escape my lips. I just looked into the remaining white light above me, seeing strands of my auburn hair waving in front of me as I fell.

As I descended lower and lower into the pitch black abyss, I could hear the trickling of water, and the swaying of the waves. Taking one last breath preparing myself for what was to come, my back had penetrated the water barrier, followed by the rest of my body.

Too afraid to open my eyes in the water, I quickly tried to resurface, rapidly running out of air. Bumping my head on something hard before I could catch my breath, I looked up, and practically chocked on my remaining breath. I realized that there was an actual barrier between me and the other side, where the oxygen is. No, this can't be! What is this? Why is this here?

Pounding on the clear obstacle, I noticed that the little speck of light that I watched on the way down, was glowing brighter and brighter by the second. Looking down, my eyes widened as they traced the outlines of bodies floating around beneath my feet. As the light shone brighter from above, I fought back the urge to scream and exhale the last of my breath, recognizing the faces of the lifeless bodies.

They had the exact features of my five sisters that I had left behind, and I felt a searing pain stabbing at my heart when I had seen my mother and father dead with them. I wanted to stop what I was doing and help them, but I knew that if I went any deeper, I would surely run out of air and black out. My main priority is too break this barrier, or who knows what will happen!

Still pounding as hard as I could against the clear barrier, I immediately stopped when I heard a cracking sound ringing throughout my ears. Suddenly, an arm jutted out from the other side, making a hole through the barrier. Turning my head to where it was, I reached for the tan, masculine hand, seeing as this was my only way out, but stopped in my tracks when I felt someone's hand grasp my ankle.

Screeching as I was being pulled away by the monster, I looked down and met the lifeless pupils of my beloved sister Asenath.

Clamping my eyes shut, I held back my tears as I kicked her innocent face, and frantically reached out for the arm in front of me. As our fingers entwined and I got a firm grip on his arm, I looked up, but could not see the face of my savior, for it was impossible to see with the sun blurring out my vision in the water.

Before the arm could pull me to safety, a sudden jolt ran throughout my whole body as a massive force pushed me down again, getting closer and closer to the end. Pearing down to see what could be pulling me this time, my eyes widened, as a black outline of a man was pulling me down, instead of my dead family members who were just there a second ago.

I was squirming too much to study the features of the dark figure, and tried my best to hold onto my remaining breath. Frantically holding onto our slipping grasp, I felt everything around me become pitch black as our fingers forcefully parted.

I frantically pushed myself onto my elbows as I tried to gather in my surroundings. I sighed in relief to see that I wasn't shrouded in darkness anymore. It was the first time in my life that I was so grateful to see the bright  sun again. I was a panting and sweating mess, and I just realized that everything I had experienced was a dream. This does not make any sense. How could all of that just be a random dream? It felt so real, and I whimpered as I remembered every aching part of it. Everything seems clear as day even now! This can't be just a coincidental dream, the gods must be trying to tell me something. I must see my family! I have to see if they are alright!
