I woke up later in a bed. Whose it was I wasn't sure. My eyes slowly fluttered open and I began to make out my surroundings.
I was in my grandparent's house, in my old bed....
But I wasn't alone...There was someone next to me, staring at me.
"Samantha, you're awake." A small male voice spoke.
My eyes stared at the owner of the voice as their face became clearer. Dark brown hair, blue eyes and black dress clothes. It was Issac.
"Issac....? ISSAC!!!" I yelped, suddenly wide awake. Leaping up from my laying position in bed, I flattened myself against the headboard, clutching the bedsheets tightly in my fists. Issac's face was amused but slightly shocked at my reaction.
"You're alive! How are you? I-I don't understand." I stammered nervously.
As I was blubbering, Issac put his hand in the air to silence me. When I closed my mouth, he lowered it again and put his hands behind his back, still smiling gently at me.
"Do not be afraid, my child. There is no need to fear me. I am merely alive by a miracle of Him. Resurrected by the Lord to be the giver of His word once more." Issac explained.
It took me a few moments to take all of this information in. He had been brought back by He Who Walks Behind the Rows? To be the preacher again?
By knowing all of this, so many new questions popped into my head. Was he mad about the other night? Would he hurt me or the others? What were his plans for us? Would he kill us? Kill Malachai for betraying him and killing him? Could I trust him now, in this room, alone with me?!
As if he'd read my very mind, Issac took a few steps toward me and put his hand under my chin. This was when I realized that I'd been trembling.
"I am not going to hurt you, Samantha." He calmed.
"Then why did you bring me up here alone?" I interrogated nervously.
"You fainted out in the field, it would have been wrong of me to just leave you there. I had the help of the others to bring you here to the house." Issac responded.
"Are you going to hurt the others? What are you planning to do?" I questioned.
Issac's smile grew softer. Fatherly, almost.
"I am merely going to take up my position as the preacher once more. This happy place still needs someone to deliver His messages." Issac stated.
I looked from him to the window, where evening sunlight was flooding in. It made the room glow a golden color.
"What about Malachai?" I found myself asking subconsciously.
The young boy smirked.
"He was not happy when I revealed myself to the group. Especially when they agreed to follow me again and accepted to begin the healing process." Issac admitted.
"Healing process? There's already one of those going on for the others to forgive and accept me." I retorted.
"Indeed, but this one is for the Lord to forgive them for their betrayal to His ways. To gain His forgiveness they must take the time out of their busy days to pray to him, alone, and beg for His mercy." Issac replied.
"And do I have to do this?" I wondered.
"Yes, Samantha. He Who Walks Behind the Rows wishes for you to speak to him above all the others. He wants to know your intentions, your reasons for your return after what you have committed." Issac informed.
