"SARAH AND JOB ARE FIRST"

I kept reading the message on the wall over and over, my breathing becoming more staggered with each time. So many questions arose as I reread it. Had Issac written this? Was it written in blood? If so, whose blood was is?

All of these kept screaming at me as I turned and grabbed the knives from the table, but I ignored them. It didn't matter if it was Issac or not, nor if it was blood or whose it was. What mattered was what the message itself said. Sarah and Job were in trouble, and I was the only one who could help them.

Sheathing both knives in my belt, I ran out of the church and darted in the direction of the kid's house. My stomach throbbed as my feet pounded on the concrete of the road. I knew that I would need to find some medical supplies to treat and dress the wound, but for now that wasn't my main concern. Now I just needed to get to Sarah and Job before anything happened to them.

It occured to me as I ran that there was no one else out on the street, which was odd for the time of day. I usually passed at least a couple of the other children when I came through town, but today there was nobody. The abnormality made me start to feel uneasy...something was very wrong.

Coming to the edge of Gatlin where the kid's house was, I began running across the lawn and to the front porch. Busting into the house, I began calling out for Sarah and Job. When neither one of them answered, I started to worry and climbed up the stairs to their bedroom.

"JOB?! SARAH?!" I yelled again. Still no reply.
    "KIDS?!" I tried again.
Nothing.
"GUYS ARE YOU HE- AAHH!!" I was cut off by the sudden sight in front of me as I entered their bedroom.

Blood. It was everywhere on the walls, the floor, the beds and the two bodies that layed in the middle of the room...No...

My entire body shook as I rushed over to the two kids, confirming that it was in fact Sarah and Job. Their bodies each had multiple stab wounds and a slit throat. Their blood caked their clothes and pooled onto the floor. In each of their hands were the weapons I'd taught them to use. They'd tried to defend themselves...but they failed. I failed them...Tears streamed down my face as I stared at the kids, I couldn't speak or scream again, I could just weep. They were just innocent kids...who the fuck would do this to them?

...

...Issac...

My fists clenched and the last few tears fell down my cheeks. The despair I felt was quickly turning to rage as I pondered the preacher's name. He had to of been the one responsible for this, or at least responsible for hiring someone else to do it. Either way, he was dead.

I took one last look at Sarah and Job now before standing up to go. Heading back downstairs to their kitchen, I found the basket of food they'd been preparing for when we escaped. It contained some bread, milk, corn and potatoes. I grabbed the basket now and was about to leave the house when another thought came to mind.

The message back at the church had said that Sarah and Job were first. So did Issac mean that he was going to kill more than just them? Who else was he going to kill? He'd said that I was right about what I'd theorized about him, with never making me a part of the group. So maybe I was correct on something else too. The part where he would hurt all those that I cared about in order to get to me. That had to be what Issac was doing, but who was next?

I thought about it for a moment. He wouldn't hurt Malachai - he was going to kill himself tonight anyways so it would be pointless. Issac wouldn't be able to hurt Sapphira since Malachai was at the house. So all that was left was...

Annie. She was alone at my grandparent's house!

"Oh shit!" I exclaimed and ran out of the house. However, right as I got out the front door I crashed into someone.
