Avery

"Avery" I hear Daniel call my name in a whisper. I giggle and run out from the old oak tree out the back of our house. I ran around the field in search of my brother. I see a flash of black and I stop running. I freeze and looks around.

The next moment I know, I am tackled to the ground, a big black wolf hovers above me. I laugh and push him off. He shifts back into his human form and chucks his clothes on. I walk over to the old oak tree and sat down on the wooden plank we use as a swing. I remember making this with Daniel when I was ten years old.

Daniel walked over to me and stood in front of me, his arms folded over his chest. His smile was now a frown and I saw the sorrow in his eyes. I look up at him confused, "Daniel what's wrong?" I ask slightly worried. He sighs deeply and closes his eyes for a moment. When he opened them, they started to glow. I gasp. "Daniel, what's going on?"

"Avery, I'm afraid to tell you that... After this, you will never see me again" he says quietly and very calm. My eyes almost pop out of my head.

"What do you mean? Of course I will! Are you moving back to our old home? We can always visit you-"

"No Avery. That is not it" he cuts me off. I frown

"Then what is it? What are you so afraid to tell me?" I plead him to answer. He sighs again and looks at the ground.

"I'm dead Avery" I gasp and tears cloud my vision. No, this isn't true.

"Daniel this isn't funny. Don't lie to me" I say sternly.

"I'm not kidding around Avery" he sighs in frustration. "I came to say good bye" he says looking back up to me. His sad eyes lock with mine, and I know he is telling the truth.

"Please don't leave me" I whisper, tears slides down my cheek. Pain crosses his face as he struggles to contain his posture.

"Avery, please tell Clarise I love her dearly and I will always be with her, watching over her... And tell her that I want her to look after my remaining pack.. And our son" I gasp.

"Sh-she- your son?" I ask confused.

"Well as you know last night, we completed the mating process... And when I came up here, the gods told me that she is pregnant. They also told me that Clarise will have no idea about this but by the time she finds out, it will be too late" he explains. I look at him confused.

"How so?" I ask.

"Well she is going to go through depression, out of losing her mate.. And the baby will die if she drifts to far away. The baby is the only thing that will keep her from going through all that. As soon as you wake up I need you to tell her about the baby, and that I love her very much" his voice sounds almost emotionless, I know Daniel is trying his hardest not to let them get the better of him.

"I will" I say standing up. I hug Daniel tightly, never wanting to let go.

"I will ALWAYS be watching over you, and Finn, and Clarise. And I want you to know that. Avery-" he pulls back a little, only far enough to look down at me. "I am so very proud of you. You make a great leader and a wonderful Luna. I wish you and Jayden the very best. Make sure to tell my nephews and niece about me!" He laughs, I can see the pride shining in his eyes.

I can't help but laugh at him. Tears of sadness continue to stream down my cheeks though.

"And don't forget to tell our parents of my death ok? When you see them next or even hear of their existence, deliver the message. I know they won't think much of it and they probably won't even come to say good bye, but they at least deserve to know. Take care of our baby brother, and take care of yourself too" he says cupping my cheek.
