"Mr Frost please pay attention you will need all this information in later life!" Mr Rose our maths teacher shouts at Charlie who was too busy throwing spitballs at the back of someone's head to even pay attention to what he was saying after a moment when it was clear Charlie wouldn't stop the teacher sighed and turned back to the lesson
Only to be interrupted again when the door swings open again the teacher grumbled about children these days I didn't quite catch the rest he sighed resting his pen on his desk and turned to face the door sighing once again "Mr Woodley please can you explain why you are late to my lesson - again?" He asks sarcastically
"I had to take my dog to the vet?" He says but it sounded like a question I roll my eyes at his inability to lie, he narrows his eyes clearly catching my eyes as if to say that he was trying his best and I can't judge him which is sort of true
"Really because last week you had said your dog had died?" Mr Rose informed Mason and by the way he became stiff I could tell he hadn't thought of that but before anyone else noticed his posture he already had an easy smirk on his face
"I got a new one..." He says after a few minutes and Mr Rose rolled his eyes
"Go sit down next to Miss Corners" The teacher commands Mason and I internally groan I haven't spoken to him properly in a year and a half mainly because he avoids me like the plague there were gasps heard around the room and I could understand why people knew we were friends but they didn't know why we just suddenly stopped talking to each other and hanging out together ever since Junior year
Mason nods but I could see the hidden murder screaming behind his eyes, even though we stopped being friends doesn't mean I couldn't read him he is like a book for me to read. He slings his bag over his shoulder and stomps over to me scraping the chair back and slumping into it making as much noise as possible
The lesson goes by and Mr Rose drones on and on and I pretend to scribble down notes but in reality I'm just doodling that is until of course I'm interrupted by a poke, a second poke and a third poke and in the back of my mind I'm being told to flip the person over the table but of course I have to keep up my nerd facade so I turn around sweetly and smile praying now that I did flip him over the table
"Yeah" I hiss to him and try to turn around again but he takes ahold of my bicep and stops me
"How is she?" Mason asks in a whisper a look of genuine concern crossing his features before he masks it rearrangeing his face into a calm facade but I can still see the worry swirling around behind his green eyes
"She's ok a little unsettle though but it could just be the change in routine" I tell him appeasing a little bit of nervousness behind his eyes, if you just looked at Mason without properly looking at him you would think he was calm collected but the closer you look the more you can tell about him, the way the corner of his mouth jumps ever so slightly when he's angry or the fact that when he's nervous he absentmindley fiddles with his fingers twiching them every so ofter maybe it is the closer you look or maybe its just the fact that I've known him almost my entire live so have picked up on his little tendencies
When the bell rings I jump due to the loud noise in the quiet room but grateful to get away from Mason I quickly grab my bag and move out of the classroom and into the swarm of people before Mr Rose can even assign the homework
I was being pushed up to the wall as I tried to make my way to my last period of the day, when someone from behind me puhed into me knocking me forward a little on instict I clench my fists but quickly release them when I realise where I was praying that people were too busy pushing and shoving each other to pay attention to me
"Sorry I didnt see you there" A British accent pulls me out of my thoughts and I turn around to see a guy about a head taller tham me standing there looking gaumlessy at me expecting me to say something
"I-It's okay" I stutter trying to keep up the nerd facade although certain people make it very hard for me to do so "N-Nobody ever sees me anyway" I tell him trying to pass it off as true oh how I do wish it was true, ever since my friendship with Mason ended I had been thrust into the limelight which I hated but couldnt do much about, its died down a little now but there are still rumors flying around
"I can hardly believe that a pretty girl like you and nobody notices you, well its there loss I guess and my gain" He winks in a flirty way and I have to hold back my vomit, he's going to be a charmer at this school I can just tell
"Well it was nice meeting you but I really must get to class" I tell him as I notice that the crowd has shrunk considerably only a few students loitered around not being told by a bell when to go to class presumably
"What teacher have you got?" He asks me and as I turn to go without answering he grabs my bicep and pulls me back what is it with people grabbing my arms today?
"Mrs Rowins -- Study hall" I answer him shrugging out of his grasp before continuing down the hall way
