May 10, 2014

These past two weeks have been incredibly amazing! Ever since Matt and I finished editing the script, we have been going to producers and production companies to back us up. Matt has been very persuasive and passionate about the whole endeavour that the producers just couldn't say no.

We also hired set designers, costume designers, casting directors, and the rest of the crew. Most of them are from Matt's old movie. He says he were friends with them already so he felt more comfortable working with them. I was just glad I was a part of the whole project.
The most exciting part I think is the casting. We set up ads everywhere on the internet and of course, sent invitations to actors we were considering. I wasn't supposed to be there during the casting but Matt insisted I should be there.

"You're the writer of this thing," he says. "You know your characters best."

When we entered the studio the first day of casting, we were surprised at the amount of people lining up to the audition.

"So many people want to be a part of a Pearson movie! I'm impressed!" I teased Matt, elbowing his side.

He just laughed. Oh, that laugh. It's just. When you heard it once, you'd want to hear it again and again and again. Too bad. I'm too corny. Just ask Tricia.

And so the casting began. All actors and actresses auditioning were sent this monologue and there were supposed to come in and say the lines memorized and with full emotions. There were so many people who were good actors but there's only a handful who look like the people I imagined when I was writing the script.

What really surprised me though was when Annabel Davis came in the room.

"Matt, you didn't tell me she was going in for an audition." I whispered to him.

"She's one of the breakout stars this year. The producers thought that it would be good for the movie if she auditioned so they sent her a script. I didn't expect her to come either though. Compared to her past projects, this might just be the lowest budget film she's ever had to audition for. I guess I'm not the only one who knows how good you are." Then he gave me a smile that probably lasted forever. And for smiles like those, you just can't help but smile back.

Annabel Davis was really good though. When she said the lines it was like as if she really meant it. There was no hint in her eyes that she only memorized the lines. She said them like she was the character herself. I know the character is pretty much based on her (since she was the same girl whom I saw that day outside the cafe) but she didn’t know that. She really made sure that even if she is a hot shot now, her talent is still worth considering. The way she cried, man! She didn’t even try! Tears just came flowing as she delivered her lines. Just amazing.

After saying the lines, she wiped her tears as if nothing had happened and walked to our panel to ask if the writer was a part of the panel. I gave her a smile, raised my hand, and told her that I was the writer.

"You're writing's really great! I haven't read anything like it before. Even if you don't choose me to play Camille, I'd still watch this movie in the theaters. You can count on me for that." She said with a sweet smile. She looked so sincere, I didn't think she only said it to be polite.

"Thank you so much. It means a lot coming from you."

And with a smile, she left the room.

"She's really good. Don't you think?" Matt whispered to me as the next actress came into the room.

"Yeah. I think so too.”

The next day, Jeremy Hudson also came in for an audition. Matt told me that Annabel and Jeremy need to be in another movie together mostly because they're the new tandem everyone's looking forward to seeing. And they sent him an invitation just in case Annabel was accepted.

When Jeremy finished acting, I wasn't surprised like I was with Annabel. He was just as good as her! They had the same depth. The both had confidence. And for sure, they were both very polite and civil. So opposite to many actors who act like divas and primadonas.

Despite all the drama that is Hollywood, I guess with the way things are panning out, I’m actually going to have a lot of fun. :)

=============================================================================

Hello, lovelies! I just want to say thank you for those really awesome people who have recently followed me and also started reading this. I am very honored and just happy that you've joined me on this roller coaster ride with Mia and the rest of the gang. I just wanted to give you an update. If you haven't noticed, I've started to put dates on these blog posts mainly because I'm trying to put them in real time. However, since I am kind of pressed for time (I really really want to finish this thing during my summer break. That's my goal and I'm really hoping I won't break it.), there may be posts that are in the future. Just so you guys won't get confused or anything. Thank you so much for everything again. I hope you continue to enjoy the story. And have a nice day!

P.S. Thanks fo sticking with me for that pretty long Author's Note. :))))))
