No! I shake my head and try to pay attention to Ms. Carnose’s lesson.

Her matted bloody hair leaving a permanent brown stain on my favorite jeans,My fingers crusty with blood from-

No! I try to think of something else but The scene from 2 weeks ago keeps popping into my mind no matter what I do.

Watching the blood seep through the white sheet she is wrapped in as they load-

CRACK! A ruler smacks down on my desk and I jump. The kids around me giggle as Ms Carnose taps her foot and looks at me disapprovingly. “Julie, please answer number 13.” she says annoyed.

“Ahhh……um…. 72?” I say. Everyone starts laughing and Ms. Carnose has to smack down th ruler again.

She sighs and walks back to her desk before answering “No. The capital of China is not 72. Please pay attention next time.”

I blush at my embarrassment and put my head down.

Ms. Carnose picks up a stack of papers and starts handing them out. “Class, before we leave I will give you all back your tests that you took on Monday.”

When I get the test, I take in a deep breath then look at it. F. Just great. Just then the bell rings.

“Julie can I please see you before you leave?” Ms. Carnose asks me. When every body else leaves she starts talking. “What is going on? You were my best student and now you’re dropping rapidly. What’s the problem?”

“I. . .” I don’t know what she wants me t say, “I just miss her.”

Her eyes soften. “I know. It’s been two weeks and I know you still feel awful, but understand Rebeca is in a better place. You should worry about yourself.”

“Sorry. I’m just not over it yet. And-” I stop Abruptly because I swear I’m seeing Rebecca. Not even in a flashback, She has just stepped out from behind Ms. Carnose and is glaring at me. She doesn’t even have that see through, ghostly quality. It’s as if the real Rebecca was standing right in front of me, completely real. I shake my head, and she is still standing there. Whoa.

“Julie?” Ms. Carnose snaps me back to reality and I turn my head focusing on Ms. Carnose’s face.

“Um, yeah. I will try to forget about it.”

“Good. Now go gather your things.”

Before I turn go get my things I see the livid expression on Rebecca's angry face but, I Just ignore it. It must me a side effect of my depression. As I walk out I take one more glance but she is gone. Even though I silently scream with relief, something in me feels like something's not right.
