I wake up and the first thing I realize is I'm now in my bed. I don't remember being moved but Mason must have picked me up and moved me last night after I fell asleep.
I roll over and see a note and a pair of keys on my bedside table.
Here's the keys,
don't wait up for me I've got stuff to do.
I promise to see you later,
-Mason
I look at the clock only to see that I've got 30 minutes to get ready and since the school is 20 minutes away driving, I really only have 10. I jump out of bed and turn up the radio full blast and sing along as I throw on another pair of skinny jeans, my yellow converse, and my faded gray tee that had I'm not Irish but kiss me anyway written across the front.
Grabbing my bag, sweater and the keys, I run out the door, not having time to eat and get Mason's motorcycle out from their garage. I put on his helmet, speed down the road but before I turn into the school's parking lot I swear I see a wolf run into the woods.
I rush to class only to see that Mason's not there, or in any other of our morning classes.
The bell finally rings signalling lunch, and as I'm putting my things into my locker Stacey comes running down the hall.
"Demi! Help me please? Please please please please please please please?" She's hugging onto my arm and pulling me towards the girls bathroom.
"Whoa! Hi there Stacey nice to see you too, you look troubled can I help?" She rolls her eyes sensing my sarcasm.
"Okay so you've heard of the dance coming up right? Spring Fling?"
"Yeah what about it?" I already knew I wouldn't be going, dressing up just wasn't my thing.
"Well I heard that it's girl ask guys this year and someone was planning on asking Jared tomorrow after baseball practice, but I was-" She shuts up fast and her face turns red at her slip up.
I sigh and shake my head smiling at her.
"You two are so oblivious to each other you know that? Why don't you just ask him yourself Stace? We all know you like him!"
"Well what if he rejects me? He's my closest guy friend, that'll ruin our friendship."
"Weellll..."
"You know something don't you?" Stacey crosses her arms and glares at me. "What is it Demi?"
"I promised not to tell but I can give you hint if you swear to not tell anyone, kay?"
She agrees and we pinkie swear. Don't judge, we're just that awesome.
"Okay so what if I said Jared won't reject you when you ask him?"
"And how would you know this?"
"Just trust me on this one please?" Though we just met I feel like we've been friends for way longer already.
She sighs and reluctantly agrees. We join the guys at the table and I poke Jared when he tries to steal my sandwich. I want to ask him where his brother is but decide not to, afraid of the questions that might come from it. But as I'm walking with Stacey to get my books for next class, Jared stops me.
"Oh I almost forgot, you ate at my place last night right Demi?"
"Yep, and I'm pretty sure our mom's are BFF's now."
"Really? Well how was Mason? Last time you guys talked, it looked like you wanted to kill each other." My face heats up as I remember how close Mason and I were yesterday.
