Chapter One

Archie's POV:

I was walking into Pop's where I knew Betty would be waiting for me. And when I look down at the row of booths, I see her sitting in our usual spot. The same one we sat at as long as we've known each other.

"Hey" she said when I sat down.

"Betty, there's something you should know" I blurted out before I could change my mind "Jughead's joined the Serpents."

She looked down and I could tell she was visibly upset. It wasn't fair that him being a jerk upsets her like this.

"Betty, forget him. He's not worth it." I said

"I'll try" she lied to get me off her case. "But you should go to V...she won't be happy to see us together."

"We're not together anymore." I said "she was...I don't know...I just didn't like the way she's been flirting with Nick and...the way she's been."

Betty had leaned in closer "I'm sure she has just been upset about our fight, maybe this break will let you two both clear your heads for a bit."

"Yea, well I want you to come over after school tomorrow. It's a Friday, which is when the black hood usually calls."

She nodded in reply and left Pop's without saying a single word.

She was upset and I felt horrible that I didn't know how to help her.

Betty's POV:

It was now midnight, and I couldn't get Archie out of my mind.

I couldn't understand why he broke up with Veronica.

Of course I remember when Veronica had said that she thinks that Archie might be jealous that I was with Jug...but I thought that was crazy because I had a crush on him, not the other way around.

I looked out my window and saw that Archie's lights were on, so I figured he was awake.

Are you awake? I texted him

Yea, why? He responded with in the next minute

Can't sleep I lied, but I wasn't going to blurt out why I thought he broke up with V.

Betty, it's okay if you're worried about the black hood.

I was now extremely nervous because I had realized that this whole time I hadn't been worried about the black hood.
