Chapter 4

Betty's POV:

I looked down at the letter, my vision was blurred because I was shaking with fear.

All I could think was that the Black Hood was in my closet...while I was in my room. And now he'll use this for leverage on me.

But I push that thought to the back of my mind. Right now I had to focus on the letter.

It was typed, so there was no way I could tell who's handwriting it was.

Betty,
I have noticed how fond you and your friend are becoming. I've decided that you won't be cutting him off unlike the other two. Instead, he will partake in this little game.
There will be rules, and if you do not follow them, I will leak the photos of you and your friend.

"Betty." Archie said softly "What's wrong? What's in the letter?"

I shook my head and tears began to form in my eyes. "I'm so sorry, Archie. This is all my fault."

"No it's not. You're doing your best to find out who he is, and save people from him." He said

"What will he have us do? It won't be good whatever it is. And truth is I'm scared." I admitted

"You have no need to be."

I nodded right as my phone vibrated.

There was a message from the Black Hood that said:

The house I led you to before,
where you tried on the mask
Will reveal more,
If you follow this task.

Archie was waiting for me to tell him about the message.

I was debating whether or not I should. I would hate to involve him further, but I thought he'd be worried if I didn't tell him, and the Black Hood would be angry.

"We need to go to an abandoned house. The Black Hood wants me to go there, and he says that it will reveal more clues." I say

"Now? Are you sure? It could be a trap." He worried

"Well then we'll have to be prepared for the worst. But I'm going because as horrible as the Black Hood is, he wouldn't lie about something like this."

"I think you're right." Archie agreed "But how do we know what we're looking for? We have no idea who the black hood even is. How will we know what is a clue and what isn't?"

"We know little things." I said "like his eye color. So maybe if we find a photo with bright green eyes, we'll have something."

"I think you're right...but I still think this idea is a little risky." His voice sounded strained and it was clear he was nervous

"We'll be fine. We are an unstoppable force together. If your at my side, and I'm at yours, nothing can harm us." I smiled

"I know you're right this time." He returned the smile "Let's just hope we find something good."

"We will, Arch. We've come so far already."

Archie's POV:

We were in front of an old, worn out house. It was dull and lifeless, and the overgrown garden in the front made it hard to notice the actual house.

It was strange, I had never really noticed this house before, which had made this feel even more like a trap. But this was important to Betty, I would not let her down when she needed me the most.

I looked over, and saw Betty extremely pale with fear. I intertwined my hand with hers.

I don't know how much it helped, but she gave me a faint smile, which meant that it probably did help a little.

"Ready?" I asked her and she nodded.

We then reluctantly made our way to the front door and went inside.

It was entirely unsettling. The whole house looked like something straight out of a horror movie.

Betty hadn't seemed too fazed. She was evidently focused on finding any clues.

Something struck me about this place. I had a vague feeling that I read something or seen something that matched this place perfectly.

I doubted that it was something I read. The only things I actually read is written by Jughead...

"Betty!" I called "Did you read the article Jughead wrote?"

"No, why?" She asked

"He wrote about the Riverdale Reaper. He told me he thought that whoever he was, was connected to the Black Hood." I explained

"So, What does that have to do with this house?"

"This could've been his house. The one where he murdered his family in."

"This house does have a connection to the Black Hood. I can tell it means something to him." Betty said "But is the Riverdale Reaper even alive, anymore?"

"I don't think so." I shook my head "But there may be clues about who was important to him. And who might want to continue his work."

"Okay, then let's start looking."

I went into a room in the back, while Betty checked the living room in the front.

In the room I was in, I saw a desk. Instead of being empty like I had expected, it was cluttered with papers and photos.

"Betty." I called and she came into the room a few short seconds afterwards.

"What? What is it?" She asked upon entering the room.

"This desk is cluttered with papers. Their must be a clue in here somewhere."

"Okay. You look through the folders on the desk and I'll check in the drawers."

I started going through the photos, then I saw one that struck me. A family portrait.

There was the supposed 'Riverdale Reaper', his wife, but most shockingly-his 3 children.

In Jughead's article it included the news report. It said that his wife and two kids were shot, but in this photo, there was clearly three.

"Betty, in Jughead's report, it only said that there was two kids. But in this photo, there's three."

Betty took the photo from my hand. She looked at it.

"So, What if this kid survived?" She asked "Would he be the black hood?"

"It's possible. After all, his goal in this is to cleanse Riverdale of sins..."

"But how would I recognize him?" Betty asked "He once told me I would recognize the face underneath the mask. And he must know me well based on what he uses against me."

"We'll have to do more research on the crime. See what actually happened that night."

The last sentence was repeating compulsively in my mind...
See what actually happened that night.

A/N:

Omg you guys have been super supportive of this book and it means so much❤️
I was a little stuck on what to do, should I update with the new episodes or make my own version? (If I make my own version the black hood might be different. But if you don't mind that then please leave suggestions on who you think it should be.
Also, I was planning to add in Vughead, but as a friendly ship instead of a romantic one...I think they'd make a good team and they don't get too many scenes in the actual show...
Anyway thanks again for the support it means sooo much ❤️
