Chapter 5

Betty's POV:

Me and Archie asked Kevin to join us at Pop's. The plan was that he would get the records from the Riverdale Reaper case from his dad's office.

When we walked in we didn't see Kevin but Veronica and Jug.

I looked at Archie anxiously. "Are they on a date?" I whispered anxiously

"I don't know." He whispered back

"Do you think they are actually dating?" I heard Veronica asks Jug.

"Definitely" He says "It was always obvious that they had a deep connection."

"Yea" Veronica smiles "Archie once told me of how he asked Betty to marry him after she helped him pass a test."

"I wish I could say I was surprised." Jughead mocks "How many relationships has Archie been in since you met him."

I let out a small laugh which catches Veronica's attention.

"B. Archie" she says

"Haha, very funny." Jughead says sarcastically

"Hey V." I say taking a seat next to her

Jughead had looked absolutely terrified when he saw Archie.

"Did I hear my name?" Archie teases "Could've sworn I heard something"

Jughead didn't say anything but the irritated look on his face said it all.

"C'mon Jug, he's only messing with you." I say and saw a hint of jealousy in Archie's expression.

"So, What are you doing here, B?" Veronica asked. She hadn't seemed upset with me anymore.

"Well..." I trail off thinking of what to tell her "Archie thought that the Black Hood was the Riverdale Reaper, so we asked Kevin if he could get the file from his father's office."

"Jughead and I will help." Veronica volunteered

"No. I'm not helping them." Jughead says "I mean how could you even help anyone like them Veronica?!"

"Jug—" I started

"No, Betty. I don't want to hear it." He snapped "You got Archie to break up with me for you, and then you start dating him."

The mood was extremely tense now but Jughead kept going.

"God, maybe they were right about you being a 'serpent slut'."

At that Archie lost it. He swung at Jughead, but he dodged it just in time.

He pushed Archie into the table at the booth that we were sitting at. Jughead was pinning him down until Veronica managed to get him off.

"Don't make me get Toni or any of the other serpents down here." Veronica said "I would love to think of what your new south side family will think of your friends from the north."

Jughead scolded, but didn't say anything. Instead he straightened his Serpent jacket and walked out.

"V..." I say grateful

"He's upset, but I think mostly at himself, he's just taking it out on the two of you." She says

"Thank you, Ronnie." Archie says

"No problem, Archie-kins." She smiles. 

I knew that she only meant that in a friendly way, but it made my chest tighten. In a way I guess I had been jealous.

"He'll come around, B." Veronica placed a hand on my shoulder "And when he does, things will go back to normal."

"In Riverdale?" I ask

"Alright. Normal for 'Riverdale standards'."

Just then, Kevin walks in, looking extremely worried.

When he spots us he rushes over to us and hands us the file we wanted.

"The janitor" He says "Our high school janitor was the kid you saw in the photograph."

A/N:

For Riverdale's episode tonight, I decided to update.
I was upset when they didn't air last week, bc I am really anxious to see if Barchie will finally rise. (Also I was annoyed at how Archie took Veronica back and kissed her as if his time meant nothing.)
Anyways I hope you enjoyed this chapter and sorry it's so short <3
