Until She Came

Chapter Nine

We both woke up to the alarm with a jump and got ready for school. I'm really worried about what is going to happen at school. But, I dated Jake and I know all of his weak spots. I was never really close to him, he was always the one close to me so he would tell me anything and everything, but I'm not the kind of person to open up. Somehow I do to Eve, I'm still not sure how though.
I got all of my things together and we left early because we have to walk Evan to his school every morning, and because we wanted to meet up with Nate. He doesn't know what happened yet so I'm going to have to tell him. Shit. And just to add I have a fourth hour with Jake so not only will I have to see him in the hall, but also during class. Let's see how this goes.
"Hey beautiful who's this?" I hear from behind me. "Hey Nate this is Eve. Evan and I staying with her for a little bit." I said and introduced the two. "Why are you staying with her is everything okay at home?" He asked quietly not wanting Eve to hear or hurt her feelings. I then explained everything that happened. Again.
We were walking in the hall without Nate for the first time today because he got called down to the principals office, probably got into trouble again. But that's okay I can fight my battles. Then I received this text message and knew he was watching us.

Jake: I see you have had your little football friend with you, and who is the other little friend? Is that your new girlfriend you fucking piece of shit? You should've killed yourself when you tried to overdose.

Oh my god. I'm never going to live that down. I'm always going to be known as the girl who tried to overdose or kill herself. Maybe one day I'll get lucky. But I wont let him hurt Eve. I will never let anyone ever hurt her; even if it results in me getting hurt. Just then I saw him at the end of the hall coming towards us. I didn't move, if he wants to fight he's going to throw the first punch and I'm going to give it my all. He was alone so it shouldn't be too hard, considering the fact that I do have a lot of power behind my punch. I pull my jet black hair up and all I hear is Eve saying "Oh shit he's gonna get it."
"Hey whore you didn't reply to my text." He said while shoving me. I didn't say anything back so he just kept shoving me. "Listen are you done? I never did anything wrong to you. Why do you hate me so much?" I ask. All I got as a reply was a punch. That's it I'm done. The next second he was off the ground and getting beat. "Eve go to class." I say sternly and she looks uncertain until I say "Please go I don't want you to get hurt. I'll be fine." When Jake heard me say that he wiggles out of my hold and started to chase after Eve. I'm surprised he could even see where he was running. He shoved her and well that triggered something in me to go full force on him. I got him on the hard tile floor and just let loose. "AM I STILL JUST THE GIRL THAT TRIED TO OVERDOSE NOW OR AM I THE GIRL THAT BEAT THE FUCK OUT OF YOU NOW?" I yell in his face. "Don't you dare go around Eve. If you even think about laying a finger on her you will get it worse than you just did." I growled. And he went off running.

Me: Can you come to the bathroom I need help.
Eve: yeah sure what one?
Me: The one across the hall from our class genius lmao.
Eve: okay dipshit give me a sec

She came into the bathroom holding her arm "Did he hurt you at all? Are you okay?" I ask while washing off my bloody knuckles. (Oops). "Why the hell are you asking me if I'm okay?Look at you. You have blood on your shirt and i don't know whether that's yours or his or both for all I know. What if you get suspended. Or expelled? Oh my god what's gonna happen? Are you going to have to leave the school? They're gonna want to contact a parent. You're going to have to give them your 'dads' number. Oh my god Ski what just happened I don't want you t-" is all she got out because I kissed her. OH MY FUCKING GOD I JUST KISSED HER. WHAT DID I JUST DO? SKI YOURE A FUCKING IDIOT. SMOOTH, BUT A FUCKING IDIOT. But it was totally worth it. Apparently she likes girls too because she kissed back. "Everything is going to be fine. I'll give them all the info they need to contact my 'dad' and it will be okay. But they might need to call you down as a witness because you saw that he threw the first punch. If you don't wa-" is all I got out before she said "shut up. Give me as a witness and kiss me again." After that little moment was done I finished getting washed up and went to third hour which only has a few minutes left and everyone was kinda doing their own thing. So I just rested my head on Eves shoulder until the bell rang.
The phone went off in the middle of a lecture and Jake wasn't there so I already knew it was for me. "Ski they need you in the main office." My teacher said. So I got up from my seat with everyone staring at me and walked to the office without a care. "Hi miss Sanchez I see that you and mister Parker got into a little disagreement." Mrs. Stark, the principal stated while acting concerned (but we all know she's just entertained) "I supposed you could say that, and please call me Ski." I said as politely as possible, which probably wasn't enough but oh well. "Would you like to explain what happened Ski?" WHAT DO YOU THINK? I JUST GOT INTO A FIST FIGHT WITH MY EX. NO I DONT WANT TO FUCKING EXPLAIN. "Sure. Well, Jake decided to text me telling me that I deserved what happened to my mother and that I should go kill myself. I was walking to my class when I saw Jake at the end of the hall. He just kept shoving me because I wouldn't say anything back and when I asked 'why do you hate me so much?' He decided to punch me. I've always been told to make sure someone throws the first punch and then after that knock them out. Unfortunately I didn't do that because he ran away like the coward he is." I said with an attitude that wasn't necessarily intended but it kinda was, not gonna lie. "Oh okay well uh you didn't need to hurt him that badly. You should've gone to a teacher. Now I need to call your father." Ugh honestly I don't care anymore. "Sure that's fine do you have his number?" And she nodded her head in response.
"Where is my daughter? I need to make sure she is okay." My dad said. I was amazed that he actually showed up and cared. "Ski is fine. But the kid she went after isn't." The lady in the office said. "Well is he dead?" He said bluntly. "No." "WELL THEN HES FINE, LET ME SEE MY DAUGHTER." Which I heard and started laughing. My bad. He came back and made the lady get some ice for my hands since I was punching with both of them and they both are bleeding and bruised. We got everything sorted out and since I "blew things out of proportion." I got a in school suspension (which is less that I thought I was gonna get but okay) I just stayed in the office for the rest of the day and met Eve outside of her classroom.
We got home and she helped me with my hands. She wrapped them and put some spray thingy that burned. "So what's gonna happen to you at school?" She asked quietly not wanting to aggravate me. "In school suspension so I wont be able to leave the office. Just promise me that you will stay out of empty hallways." I explained. "Okay. I can do that." We laid down and did our homework, then I helped Evan with his, it's basically the daily routine. "Eve did I scare you today? If I did I really didn't mean to." I said and broke the silence. "No...Okay maybe a little." She said honestly. "Eve I'd never hurt you intentionally . You should've heard what I said to him once you were in class. I told him if he ever lays a finger that he would get it worse than he just did. I wont let anyone hurt you. Okay?" I spilt "Okay. Oh and one other thing." Eve started. "Yeah...?"
