Until She Came

Chapter Fourteen

"Eve talk to me." I said while chasing her down the stairs. When I finally caught up with her I grabbed her hand and spun her around. She grabbed onto me and broke. "What's going on?" I whispered into her ear. I didn't get a response. If I lose her I will lose everything I am. And basically everything I have, because her and Evan are all I have. I have to figure out what's going on. "Babe look at me" I said while whipping away her tears. "Is Nate bothering you? Because if he is I'll start to pull away." I felt hot tears starting to form in my eyes. I hate seeing her this way. It makes me feel as if I failed her, I couldn't make her happy and I couldn't prevent her breaking down. "It just feels like you love him more sometimes" Eve mumbled under her breath. "I'll never love anyone more than I love you. I love you with everything I am, which may not be much, but I have my heart in your hands and I hope you trust me to have yours." I start to get a knot in my stomach. What if she doesn't trust me the same? What if I'm not good enough for her? I mean, my own dad left me. My mom hid her illness from me, plus I scared her when I beat the hell out of Jake. I wouldn't doubt if she has lost trust in me.
"I trust you." She said between rugged breaths. We exchanged "I love you's" and went back into her room. Eve laid down then I laid on her chest. Then I got a text. Ironic timing.

Nate: Hey wyd?

I looked at Eve and I could see her face go pale..well paler then she already is.

Me: Hey sorry I'm busy rn. I can't talk. Sorry.

Eve smiled at me then kissed my forehead. She knows I love those. They just reassure that someone is there. That someone cares.
"Come on babe, we better go to sleep so we can help mom pack in the morning for her trip. Then deal with Dylan and tell him we don't need him and we've got it under control." I said sleepily. "Okay. Goodnight love." "Goodnight."
