It was the night of Nightshine's ceremony. Just earlier they'd held a ceremony for Silver; allowing her spirit to pass into the Tribe of Stars. But he'd also seen her spirit split in two; signifying part of her also passed into StarClan. "This moonhigh we are gathered here to promote and bless Nightshine with his rightful position of leader!" Raven yowled, her voice breaking the silence.

"Finally!" somecat muttered; only to be quietened by a glare from the feisty healer.

"When the moon reaches the highest point in the sky; the spirits of our old and forgotten ancestors will be allowed passage into this world. They will walk among us for one night only, and this night we call upon them to guide Nightshine in his new life. Nightshine, do you accept the role of leader and all the responsibilities that comes with it?" She had turned to Nightshine, her eyes dull and lifeless. Something was up, he could feel it. Gulping; he uttered,

"I do."

"From now on and for future skycycles past; you will be known as Night, the leader of The Strays. All bless Night!" Raven yowled, throwing back her head. Night stifled a gasp as starry cats weaved amongst the other cats, eagerly catching up. He stopped and Silver and ran over to her. "Hey. Something got you down, brother?" Her voice was soft and sweet; she'd make a great mother one day. Night shivered, thinking about the cold reality. If she had kits and they grew up knowing their uncle was a murderer, well, that wasn't good. He dismissed that thought and forced a purr.

"I'm fine." Just then a yowl cut them off. It came from camp. Realising they'd wondered out; they raced back and bolted into the centre, only to find a small kit dead. His mate was grieving; her eyes shined with sadness.

"He didn't deserve to die," she murmured, nosing the dead kit. Night nodded to Sky as he leapt up onto a small rock and yowled at the top of his voice;

"There is a murder running around camp who murders at moonhigh. Anycat caught outside the camp during sunfall or nightrise will pay seriously for their actions. You are all dismissed!" Cats started gasping at his announcement, he just jumped down and smoothed his fur. He padded over to Sky and whispered in her ear,

"I think Leaf and Amber would be safer with the Clans." She nodded in agreement.

"Next suncycle I'll take them."

"Be careful." With that he entered his den, and curled up into a tight ball. Where ever Blizzardwing was, he'd find his brother. He'd make him pay...
